Sounds like 5 will be done by fall. He said as early as June but I doubt it.

I am halfway through book 3. The first book was okay. I liked it well enough. The second book was brutal. It didn't get interesting until the last few chapters.

The third book is starting to get a little ridiculous, but maybe the series will get better. I hated the second book in the Wheel of Time series as well, but the third and fourth book were pretty solid.

If I have to read one more wolf dream though, I may call it quits. Those are so bad it is not even funny.

I keep reading, hoping they will get better. But what happened at the Frey wedding was so lame.

This is venturing into M Night Shamlamadingdong territory.

Wow...I thought all 4 of the Martin books kicked complete ass.

Starting Book 4 of WOT. So far, so good.

That was the last good book of the Wheel of Time, to me. After that, the books were more a rehash of earlier books than any new development. I read the first 10 just because I had them, but it was more and more painful to get through the books.

I might like the Martin books better if there was a single likeable character that survives.

And I hate third person limited that tries to skate around that by projecting what other characters are thinking and feeling. It amazes me the number of people in Martin's world that can tell what is going on in other people's heads so accurately.

I could go into more problems I have with the series, like the lack of direction (most notably the way he doesn't know what he's doing with certain characters), but I don't want to have spoilers for people who are reading it or will be reading it.

The third one is too long and meanders a bit, but the first two are almost impossible to put down.

I haven't read 4 yet. Think I'm waiting for 5 so I can read them back to back without that nagging need to know what happened to the other characters.

I liked the first book well enough. It was enjoyable.

The second book was mediocre until the last third, which was solid.

The third book is a struggle so far.
