Finished it up this AM. Very satisfying conclusion. JK is a helluva storyteller.

I agree - I couldn't believe how well it wrapped up...after 4000+ pages, it was a strong ending...couldn't see how she was going to pull that off.

I would only pick this up if you were able to get through The Silmarrillion. I enjoyed it because I am a Tolkien nut and it is alot easier to read than the above but if you are looking for LOTR type action you will be disappointed.

It will be end of the year or next year (most likely) before we get the next book from Martin and the series won't be complete until after the Mayan long count calendar ends. Which means we may or may not be around when it does come out.

I've been reading some of the Warhammer 40k books since I used to play the game. I'm not sure if people unfamiliar with that universe would like them, but as with anything, some of them are good and some of them are horrifically bad. The ones by William King and Graham McNeil are pretty solid.

I also recently finished some Vernor Vinge (ok), Richard K. Morgan (entertaining but shallow), and Thomas Wolfe (I am Charlotte Simmons is an insightful look at college debauchery but a god awful novel).
