Whatcha readin'?

Just finished Margaret Cho's I'm The One That I Want. I love her hard-core, take-no-prisoners comedy & expected to find a lot of that in the book; but it took me in a different direction altogether. (Borrowed it from the daughter when I got stranded at her place overnight without a book. Car battery had died).

The book blew me away. Incredibly inspirational autobiography. Anyone who has experienced being shunned & excluded will relate. Anyone who has struggled with addictions will relate. Anyone who has repeatedly wound up in bad relationships will relate.

It's an especially good book for women who have any sort of "self-image" issues--there are tons of us. And for anyone who needs to take responsibility for their own life & quit being victimized.

I'm damn impressed with her & with the book.

 

Misquoting Jesus by Bart D. Ehrman. Pretty good book so far, it has been rather enlightening.

 

just finished Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. Pretty good. I think I'll read the rest of the series.

 

Is the Ender series about the prodigy kid they used to fight the baddies from outer space?

 

Just finished Patterson's 'Mary, Mary' and I'll prolly start re-reading all the 'Series of Unfortunate Events' in prep for the 13th book to be release this Friday.

 

Actually it isn't. I've got about 2 1/2 pages so far of debunked misconceptions from that book, and I haven't read past the second chapter.

Ender's Game is the first book. Ender's Shadow is a parellel novel to the first one. It was pretty good.

Card has lived in Greensboro for years so I figured it was time to check out some of his work.

 

Ender's Game was pretty good, and I've read another story about Ender when he's much older and wandering the galaxy. Good stuff.

 

Speaker for the Dead? Thats the next one in the series. I'm getting ready to start that one.
