    I'll take either right now at #2. I don't rightly want a trade down unless it's a really good one. Whether it's Peppers or Jammer, IMO, is pretty much related back to which spot we can do better with in round two.

    is trading our pick to the no3 or 4 pick and getting another 3rd pick totally out of the question?

    Pretty much, since Detroit would most definately get two players they're targeting as a choice - Peppers or Jammer. Buffalo probably would have a real hard time trading up to get Harrington and are stating they're not terribly high on him as smoke. They may also be looking at McKinnie or a trade down given history. 5, SD, may have their pick of the litter for the best OL or WR and won't need to trade up. Dallas would likely trade up for one of the two we're looking for, if we made that move, and then we'd be left with buchanon or a DT as the need options.
    7, Minnesota, can't afford to move up and should be happy with the best lineman on either side of the ball or even possibly a receiver. Same with KC.

    I'd love a short swap for a little something extra but I really don't think we can or should.

    We have to take Peppers. The regret for not getting him when he turns out to be great would be worse than taking him and he turns out to be a bust. He's scary to take but too scary to pass up. Peppers will be fine here. He has a couple of great coaches on defense. Fox, who just coached the leagues sack leader, will personally see to it that Peppers is succesful. It shouldn't bother Del Rio too much, he has his work cut out for him with Morgan (not that Morgan needs a lot of work).

    Peppers

    {and I still think we land Portis at #34}

    Let's look at things this way, early on Fox said he was moving Gilbert out to LDE. With Gilbert there and Williams still on the roster, we're covered there somewhat(not that it's the best situation). We've axed both Evans and Hitchcock and Anderson is going under the knife. I'd like to see us go Jammer, Rumoh in 1 and 2. Hopefully, some one like Dennis Johnson of Kentucky will be there at the top of the 3rd. He needs polish, but should turn out to be a fairly good DE. If this plays out we can axe Williams and persue a decent DT or DE in FA after June 1 for depth.

    well, he never really said that he was moving Gilbert out there, just that he hadn't ruled it out. As of now it makes the most sense because we have two DEs but we're about to change that. I'd still prefer to have him inside.

    Questions about Jammer

    Since both Jammer and Peppers would fill a obvious need it boils down to who is most NFL ready. Reading this weeks Sporting News they question whether of not Jammers can play zone defence effectively as while at texas he wasn't called upon to do so.

    He's a quick react, and he's got speed/quickness. There are worse things than having a guy that good at man. at least he didn't play 100% bump and run like Ross. That's a guy who has questions about man too.

    Peppers...Jammer? It could go either way, unless it doesn't?

    Oh, I think Gilbert has shown he is MUCH BETTER inside. His stint at DE was a failure to say the least. Not that he is all that great inside either, but he doesn't belong at DE.
    Is it just me or is it interesting that the Panthers have been adding CB after CB, added a RB in Lamar Smith but haven't sniffed anyone at DE?

    Hmmm.......
