McNabb's injury will be a huge loss for the Eagles but it is debatable whether or not they would have reached the Super Bowl anyway. What is the most devastating injury ever suffered in football. Single handedly derailing a teams title hopes.

    Kurt Warner's finger?
I dunno, Bulger might've gotten them there anyway.

    Steve Young's last concussion?

    Montana's elbow?

The rams were sucking when Warner went down so i dont think his injury ruined their title hopes. Helped them maybe.

Were the 49's contenders when Young and Montana went down?

The 49ers were contenders every year since 81.

IMO, we're looking at this sorta wrong. The Lawrence Taylor inflicted injury on Theismann is probably the most impactive. LT was good, and no one will take that away from him, but the hit somewhat immortalized him. It was a gruesome injury, which doesn't happen as much when someone's actually setting out to fuck you up. Not that it physically hurt any dynasty or brought another together in a way it wouldn't have, but as far as history of the league, that's probably in the top part of the list.

What about players cut down in their prime. Gale Sayers, Terrell Davis.

    Bo Jackson.

  7. Tim Brown blew out his knee a long time ago like his second season or something. He's still amazing, but now he avoids contact and refuses to wear long cleats. He was out a year at least and he's lost a step. As good as he is know, I wonder how good he'd have been at 100% for the last 10+ years.

I would say Bo Jackson, too.

You could also argue injuries that gave superstars their shot:

    Trent Green for Warner
That drug addict for Terry Bradshaw
The guy that went down so Unitas could start.

When Steve went down and Jeff Lewis came in

Biak's last injury was pretty huge. I thought it was finally going to be his year. He looked great before that happened.

Joe Theisman still makes me hurt when I think about LT twisting his leg like that.

I still miss Bo. Bo knows how to run the football.
