No, it wasn't. It is NEVER the player's call to go back in from an injury, especially a potentially serious one. If the coach and/or training staff says it's the player's call or that they let the player make the decision, they are just attempting to cover their own asses.

We screwed up, whether or not it caused any more damage. But given how bad we've been in dealing with injuries and signing damaged goods over the years, I didn't have any faith in our training staff before this anyway. It's absolutely true that we have to move on, but at the same time, someone should be held responsible for that stupid decision, and we had better make sure that it never happens again.

Didn't a coach hide a player's helmet to keep him from thinking about going in?

Fox said it was the player and the medical staff.

Yeah, my point is that it's bullshit. It's the coach's responsibility to decide who plays and who doesn't. That's true at all levels and in all sports.

Collin, Jenkins told me himself, so if you doubt the source, then you are a fool. with no MRI or anything indicating torn acl, he and the trainers thought it was hyper-extended and he felt he could keep playing.

solarte, try reading my post before responding, understanding what I'm actually saying, and get back to me. If the coach lets his players do whatever the hell they want, he isn't doing his job. If you don't know that, you aren't doing yours.

the coach got the input from the trainers who cleared Jenks. I read your post. And unless you have the same access to the players as I do, you dont have the whole story.

You speculate from your perch, I'll deliver the facts.

Dude, my job is higher profile than yours, so don't make the mistake of thinking that I'm impressed with your "access."

In the meantime, note that you just confirmed what I said, that Jenkins had to be cleared by either the coach or the training staff (or in this case both). It is never up to the player unless the coach and/or training staff just aren't doing their jobs.
