I admire Dook as a University. I hate them just for the joy of it. That and Kenny Dennard fucked my girlfriend back in the day. Bastard. :teeth:

I used to pull for anyone from the ACC if they were out of conference or in the NCAA tournament. I have stopped doing that for UNC over the years. I have found UNC fans to be crude and way too sensitive. I know lots of UNC fans will pull for anyone against Duke so I have started feeling that way about UNC. It is not that I really want UNC to lose it is just I do not want to hear the UNC fans talking the smack they always do when UNC wins.

this ones is kind of a stretch but....Maya Angelou lived in my neighborhood in Winston-Salem, she had a full basketball court in here back yard that she would let us play on. Kenny Denard's name was written in the cement right at the bottom of the goal post...that is all

That is not as big of a stretch as what Vito's girlfriend had to do to accomodate Mr. Dennard after being used to little Vito.

Actually this dates back to before my being a Duke fan. I was ten years old in '82 when UNC won the NCAA tournament. I did not know much about college basketball yet and basically followed my dad's lead and pulled for anyone in the conference in the NCAA. We did not watch the regular season or the ACC tournament. I was pulling hard for the tarheels to beat Georgetown. I celebrated with everyone else when they won. The next year I started watching a little when the ACC tournament came around and started liking NC state since they were an underdog and had to win to get in the NCAA. Well I pulled for all the ACC teams that tournament and when State beat Houston it was a great sports moment for me. I went back to grade school and wanted to celebrate with my buddies from the last year since another ACC school had won it all. I was shocked to find that my UNC fan buddies had pulled for Houston. It was then I decided that I could not be a UNC fan. I followed it more as I got older and finally settled on Duke as my favorite team. I have been a Duke fan for the last twenty years now and I have not seen any reason to change my opinion of the Tarheels or their fans.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

except for that "not really wanting dook to lose" part

I really want dook to lose.

I would attempt a witty comeback but sometime the truth just hurts too much. :(
