I am sure we can all come up with lots of things we do that are considered worship but from a intellectual standpoint what exactly is worship and how do we do it? Some one singing or raising their hands in a church service may not really be worshipping in their heart. Is trying to live right and following a moral code a form of worship?

Here's an excerpt from an article I wrote on Christian worship a few years ago:

Good topic, tough one to answer . . . I guess we all have our own and some common forms of worship. . mine would be a mix of what you all have said, live right, meditation, and just thankful to be here . . The dictionary defination is quite interesting, from that I'm not so sure meditation could be taken as a form of worship, but it does work for me

    Worship \Wor"ship\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Worshipedor
Worshipped; p. pr. & vb. n. Worshiping or Worshipping.]
    1. To respect; to honor; to treat with civil reverence.
    [Obsoles.] --Chaucer.

    2. To pay divine honors to; to reverence with supreme respect
and veneration; to perform religious exercises in honor
    of; to adore; to venerate.

    3. To honor with extravagant love and extreme submission, as
a lover; to adore; to idolize.

It seems to me that some people's worship is similar to groveling. Certainly we should all deserve to grovel when compared to God but somehow it does not seem like that is what He would want.

If someone does something for me I certainly put more value on the actions they take to please me rather than any flattering words they may have.

I think a better word would be adoration. Groveling is different.

no that's warship, the southern accent gets in the way sometimes. which is not to be confused with whoreships which plied the trade routes during the 18 and 19 centuries.

This is a great definition of how I feel about worshiping Jesus.
