Bottom line. If American league pitchers had to stand in the batters box after plunking a batter there would be seriously fewer hit batters. Pitching inside is one thing, head hunting is another. Both Clemens and Pedro are cowards. They know they won't be facing live pitchers so why not hit em.

I don't think that Clemens or Pedro are cowards at all - but I do think that they would be less likely to throw at someone if they had to get in the box. The whole Piazza thing lasted 2 years - if Clemens had had to get back in the box that night, it would have freaking been over. On a side note, what Shawn Estes did STILL pisses me off - throwing behind him - fucking please!

Saturday was a perfect example of how a hitting pitcher would have prevented the problem. Pedro was frustrated, so he took it out on Garcia. I do not believe that he was throwing at his head, but he was definitely throwing at him. Now, would Pedro have done that if he had to come to the plate? I doubt it.

Pedro's rep was a lot worse when he was with the Expos. Most attribute it to being too young to hanress his heater, like Jaret Wright of the INdians.

I know he was more likely to hit people then - because of control issues - but he's got perfect control now. Like I said he wanted to hit Garcia, and he did - pretty much right where he was aiming.

Pedro pitched in the national league and hit more batters back then.

By the way, is that clown Karim Garcia wearing a hood ornament around his neck?

He gave everything he had. Most nights that's good enough, but not tonight.
