I was in Chapel Hill yesterday and they were saying high ankle sprain, which could mean anything as far as time on the shelf.

Supposedly the MRI showed a fracture that the Xray couldn't detect.

Not good for the Heels unless Paulus/Sexton (whoever) can give them the deep threat that Yates was providing. The Running game already stinks, they'll just pound whoever is back there until they can get more than 1 yard per carry.

Word was spreading last night that Yates was telling people on the team and on campus that he was out for the season.

Insidecarolina just reported that he is out for a minimum of six weeks due to a small nondisplaced fracture on his left ankle. It wasn't picked up on the original xray but showed up on MRI.

It is a fracture in his ankle. Small enough it did not show on the X-Ray, but the MRI proved it was non-displaced. He is out at least 6 weeks, but could be done for the year.

It seems as if every year UNC has some potential of being good, their QB goes down (Stanicek, Keldorf, Davenport, Durant, Curry). Maybe it's the nature of the position.

I'd rather have my qb than the entire starting lineup. (See NC State) They lost their qb and their best defensive player for next week if not for longer

There aren't a lot of redshirt freshmen quarterbacks who have consistent success, so I don't know that people should expect him to be good at this point. But obviously he doesn't look composed and it's best for him to play limited duty as Sexton's backup.
