As it often is with comedians and comedic actors, you either like them or you can't stand them, how does everyone feel about the following?

    Richard Pryor
    George Carlin
    John Cleese
    Bill Hicks
    Eddie Murphy
    Bill Murray
    Robin Williams
    Steve Martin
    Jim Carrey

Richard Pryor - His stuff was funny in the day
George Carlin - My favorite comedian
John Cleese - Monty Python, 'nuff said.
Steve Martin - Funny as hell, in small doses.
    Chris Rock - Good stuff.

I don't really have opinions on the rest.

Richard Pryor - the father of black comedy... he spawed the Chris Tucker's and Chris Rock's

George Carlin - underappreciated talent... even better live... catch him if you get the chance...

John Cleese - funny when in the right role...

    Bill Hicks - who?

Eddie Murphy - better now than he was 15 years ago

Bill Murray - gotten old... seems to have dipped off... he's at his best when he's got that stupid look on his face

Robin Williams - very VERY talented... has multiple levels while acting... can be serious but always finds a way to make you laugh

Steve Martin - one trick pony... but put in the right place is still entertaining

Jim Carrey - better when he sticks to his roots... he got away for a while and his movies suffered... seems to be in the right direction with the new "Bruce Almighty" movie

Mike Myers - he's unbelieveably talented, but most people lock him into an Austin Powers mold... he was one of SNL's better all time

Chris Rock - ok but Chris Tucker took the same gimmick and made it better

Bill Hicks died I believe in 1989 of cancer at age 39 (I think) one of the single funniest stand-ups I have ever seen.
