WFNZ's Gary Williams popped for DUI

Who cares? They make fun of him for being black.

 

I agree with the one poster. When the girl went missing in Aruba QCB made several insensitive comments. Of course I blame the station for hiring a guy off a garbage truck. Have you ever really listened to him? He has a really limited vocabulary and he has no idea what is going on in the world. He is a complete idiot. My solution....I no longer listen during his segment nor do I support any sponsor he endorses. From 5:15 to 5:30 I swith to WBT...then back to FNZ at 5:30. That is the great thing about being able to change the station.

QCB makes as much fun, if not more, of black people than white people. IMO, the guy's pretty damn funny.

Gary the Weasel

If Williams is guilty, he should have manned up and taken responsibility for his actions. If he is innocent, he should have explained the allegations against him and proclaimed his innocence.

His monologue was full of weasel words. He didn't want to admit that he had spent time in jail ("...when I was downtown"), didn't want to admit he had too much to drink (...we ate at a restaurant and then went to a housewarming party across the street from the restaurant")

I can't believe he tried to equate his legal problems ("what happened to me") with Celania's cancer.

I seem to recall Williams on-air hammering Leonard Little for DUIs and vehicular manslaughter a few weeks ago during the Vick hysteria.

And this notion of Williams being a local VIP? Puh-leese. He is Christmas help for the Carolina Panthers during pre-season (meaningless) football games. He is the co-host of a two-bit local drive-time morning AM radio show.

I actually think he was pretty stand-up about it all. I think he's a great morning host because in contrast to other local hosts, he actually talks details about the sports they cover, instead of the same old 'your team sucks' babble.

I know the cool thing to do on these posts is to rip everything that is WFNZ, and some parts certainly merit ripping, but I'm not sure Gary Williams is. Pretty classy guy, in my opinion, who made an incredibly poor judgment (who here hasn't made poor judgments in their lives), and is now owning up to it.

Of course, for the haters, no response will be sufficient. That's the world we live in. That's why phone lines/bulletin boards are full after the team loses.
