WFNZ vs. FOXSPORTS730/WZGV vs. WBT 99.3

Now that FOXSPORTS 730 (WZGV) is on the scene, at least there will be some competition when area pro/college sports contracts come up in the near future . . . I don't think either station will get the Panthers (unless they pair up with a FM station with a big stick), but I could see UNC Charlotte moving to FOXSPORTS730 as they get football ramped up in a couple of more years. While WFNZ is giving the Bobcats a little more love this year (extended post game analysis), FOXSPORTS 730 could counter with more time for a weekly coaches show and 15-30 minute pre game show.

Meanwhile over at WBT 99.3-I wonder if the folks at Greater Media have ever thought about flipping 99.3fm into an all sports station. Maybe make it a full time ESPN Affiliate (basically have a PM Drive time show and go with ESPN Lineup the rest of the day . . . Welcome back home GerryV ? ? ? ?). At some point IM sure the Bobcats would like to be on a station with a better stick. 99.3fm would be a decent flagship station (they wouldnt have to simulcast on 1110 WBT; They can stick with the current news talk format if they want). Having the Bobcats/Panthers on 1 station would be a pretty nice lineup to have IMHO . ..

 

If FOXSPORTS730 was smart . . . .

They should try to get Kelli Bartik (FOX18) and Tiffany Wright (WSOC) to come on Sports Yapp or the Bottom Line as semi regular guests . . . It would be cool to hear a little more to hear what the lady sportsreporters in this market are thinking about . . .
