This is the second year Weinke has had trouble learning a playbook. He may just be a dumbass.

Absolutely, and that almost goes back to what has been suggested before, that Chris needs a swift kick in the butt to engage his work ethic and try to make him the leader he should be.

I don't remember problems last year. But yeah, if you're a starting quarterback and you don't know your book, you're fucking up, whether physically not being smart or being unwise in choices.

In that case, should we sick Red Foreman after him? :D

he was damn near a teenager in the 70s, if that's what you mean. :D

Not quite, Magnus. Weinke and I are the same age. We weren't teens until the mid 80's.

Nah, my point was, who calls a dumbass a dumbass better than Red?

Ya know, Weinke's lack of knowing the playbook is the best, and most logical, reason I've heard yet as to why he's benched for now.
I'm sure it was much easier for a pretty smart vet like Peete, regardless of his skills, to learn a playbook that he was aready kinda familiar with in much less time; or at least know more at this point.
I think fox wants a win, almost desperately (the teamNEEDS a win), and has the balls to do what it takes as he sees it to win.

Maybe that's also why he still might believe CW might be the future, but he's just not up to speed yet, simple as that.
That would also explain why CW struggled more once there was more pressure put on him to make quicker descisions in the pocket.
When it was simple, and there was a play where pocket reads (not walk up to the line reads) weren't as important with the play, he locked on and threw ok. When he had to read more and was pressured to do it quickly while in the pocket, he struggled even more, especially when he tried to go thru his progressions. He says he's comfortable, but that's BS, he's just calm ("poised") about it.
And neither of them (Fox nor Weinke) are gonna admit so much about not knowing the playbook, Fox would say something like "he's not quite ready and Peete gives up the best shot at winning this week"-type of sound bite- covering his ass and not making CW look too bad.
All I know is, whatever the real reason, Chris better be boning up on that playbook, and if and when he gets in another game, he better light it up, for his sake! The fans are just not gonna except anything less.

I dunno. He still sucked during week 12 last year, yet he 'knew the playbook'.

    Maybe he just sucks.

Mabr he does suck, I'm witholding judgement on that at the moment, but based in wins, yes he does (I know, I know, he's not the only one responsible).

But if you look at the tapes of preseason, Peete seemed to know more when a reciever was not where he was supposed to be, and would tell them more so.
Whe the play was a bust, I don't think Weinke knew who frigged up- himself, or the reciever.
