Yeah Piper it does look like we may need another tackle. The fat bastard is probably big enough to play there now.

    >> But I guess we'll have to keep hearing you sing the praises of Henning.

only while you continue to rag on 'em without admitting that he has almost nothing to work with and he has done a pretty decent job with what he has got. he is 3-3 for godsakes and could easily be 6-0.

where in our offense do you see any talent that makes you think that we should be able to march up and down the field with ease? or be able to force teams to play us with only 7 in the box? or be able to seal a game at the end with our offense?

i don't know why i ask these question cuz you'll either avoid answering them or you will give me some pie n the sky bs about completing long passes to Moose and Smith. neither of thes guys is a good deep threat. moose missed the GB an AZ games. smith dropped 3 balls last weekend. magnum tends to drop more than he catches. walls ain't what he used to be and has a bad finger. hoover dropped a ball piper says was a good call and would have sealed the game. remembering any of this? and our so-called QBs would probably rank near or at the bottom of anyone's list. still, if our better receivers could stay healthy and actually catch passes that hit them in the hands, henning might could force teams to respect our passing game. until then, it ain't gonna happen. i don't care what plays you call.

i watched the oilers for years. they were predictable as hell when they had earl. they just kept running him down your throat till you choked. but they also had a QB with a huge arm and a great deep threat to make teams pay when they tried to cheat against the run.

the panthers don't have such weapons. i fault hurley for not getting us a receiver in here this year -- course he is into "patience." i think it was a damn shame cuz i think we could have won this year. course, his plan is to win the SB.

anyone else out there wondering if Hurney didn't force the change to weinke? it still strikes me as weird that no one sees any kind of limp and all of a sudden peete needs surgery. my paranoia thinks that hurney wants to find out if weinke can do it. why now? cuz if he ain't the man and he loses now, then our record can still be bad enough that hurney can go out and get a stud in the draft. he also has time to take a look at Fasani. if weinke wins, then everybody is happy. i think T_Scholl and Hurney musta had dinner together.

He'd play. I have a friend who says he knows a guy works in the same city as his agent who said he would.

But he did talk to the Browns and he's already seen the Defense. Be a nice back-up for Weinke.

I'm not going to take anything away from Fasini, but at 3-3 and a shot at the play-offs, we need a veteren. And he can certainly go down field.

yeah, but do we need a QB who was last seen crying on TV? Sign Jeff Brohm, at least he's not that old.

    huh?

I thought he was just cut due to the salary cap and nobody picked him up because he wanted too much money. I'm sure he's like most kickers during the season at this point though.

    >>only while you continue to rag on 'em

No. For one, you form your own opinions around here. Just because you find what I believe unrealistic gives you no reason to be ridiculous. I don't find I'm being realistic. You believe I am and seem to think that countering that by being unrealistic will accomplish something.

    >>without admitting that he has almost nothing to work with

I never said he had enough to work with compared to most. Still, we're

I never said it was an excuse to crawl into a shell, either. The game goes on and when we get the ball we should expect to score, not expect to punt. A winning attitude is much greater than a defeatist attitude, whether success is there every time or not. If I'm a player and I know we're going to give up after two downs, it's a little discouraging.

It might not be to you, though.

    >>and he has done a pretty decent job

No. He hasn't. The passing game has sucked. There have been few adjustments, and the running game keeps getting worse. He did OK with a few good players, but most of the drives were bolstered by penalties or the rare completed long pass. A few trick plays helped push the way down, and in only one game was our offense above average.

    >>where in our offense do you see any talent that makes you think that we should be able to march up and down the field with ease?

    >>or be able to force teams to play us with only 7 in the box? or be able to seal a game at the end with our offense?

Yeah, that's so unrealistic to be passing against man coverage with no free or one free. It's so hard to think that we should be trying to drive the field. Not so much expecting, just attempting. A chance is a chance, and playing smart doesn't mean playing the safest possible route every single time.

    >>i don't know why i ask these question cuz you'll either avoid answering them or you will give me some pie n the sky bs about completing long passes to Moose and Smith.

Bullshit. You should know better now. I don't do unrealistic things like defend coaches blindly. I don't defend players blindly either, but I also don't go after them hard because of personal dislikes. I don't set out to ignore the meat of a reply either. If you say something worth replying to, I'll reply. If not, I'm not bothering.

Still, if you have man coverage, you use that to your advantage rather than to theirs. Too bad we can't do that, all because Dan Henning is justified for helping make our O suck because the percentages say it will anyway.

I actually saw a good point made the other day. Weinke did get extended practice time in before last week's game, which seemed like nothing at the time because it was to pull Peete out to rest. And yet then he played a half. I have to believe this staff was making a look in this direction, knee or not.

Yeah no doubt. Peete was getting banged around and was hurting. Obviously you want your back-up ready and the rest of the team still needs to have practice. I don't think there's any more to it than just that.

And if there was, I think Fox wouldn't have a problem saying so....it is what it is.

Fox said he's improved. We'll see how much tommorow.

Atleast as we get into the divisional games, Weinke's going against teams he saw 2x last year. That's an advantage.

My thinking Weinke has a one game shot at this. And if he does well, he'll get another shot next week, and the same thing after that.

I don't think it's just that simple. Peete could have had this surgery in preseason or he could have waited until the end of the season.
