Gotta a mini-gym in my house, free weights mostly. Current routine:

    Day 1 - Chest & triceps
    Dumbbell Bench
    Incline Bench (Barbell)
Decline Bench - would rather do dips instead, but no dip station
    Close Grip Bench
    Skullcrushers
    Press Down

Day 2 - Back and Biceps
    Weighted Pull-ups
    Seated Cable Rows
    Bent over rows
    dumbbell or ez bar curls
    preacher curls

Day 3 - Legs and shoulders
    Squat
    Straight leg deadlifts
    Quad extensions
    Hamstring extensions
    military press
front or side raises (alternate week to week)

    I also do a 30 minute light jog 3 to 4 times a week.

I've been an on again off again weightlifter since my senior year of high school back in the leather helmet days. My problem is work. I do landscaping. This Spring was just jam packed and its hard to work up enthusiasm for the gym when you've been laying sod all day - or when you've been working all day in a sauna, which is what we have here in July and August.
Anyhow, I'm trying to getback on again. I do use a gym. I like the wide range of equipment available. At a time like this when I've been away for a couple of months, I like to use the Life Circuit machines for a couple of weeks before I start throwing around free weights (They're computerized. They measure a test lift and then program a set accordingly). After that, it's three days a week on free weights and cardiovascular machines. I have a treadmill at home that I use on days that I don't lift - not much, just a mile.
A problem that I have when I get all body conscious is that when I get in to the gym and start loosing weight, I also stagnate or actually loose some strength in my lifting - especially at my age, 45. It's really frustrating but I just have to prioritize and tell myself that when I've trimmed down I can start building back up more constructively.
You are wise to include weight lifting as part of a weight loss program. Muscle weighs more than fat but it also burns fat and calories more efficiently. Lift hard. Lift smart. Keep hydrated and increase your cardiovascular. That's the smart play.

what equipment do you have specifically?

is your goal general fitness, more strength, or increase muscle mass?

    Bill,

I'll start lifting with you regularly at night if you want. If you have that stuff at home that is good enough to get started. Let me know. (We may need to get some more bar weight though :D )

    Sly,

That just might be the motivation i need. Let us talk more in detail so we are both on the same training program.

    Sounds good.

I have a curl bar with about 100lbs of plates (small holes not the Olympic sized) that I can bring over too.
