    Not a bad week, and holding at 66%. 9 - 5 last week, 66 - 34 overall.

    BALTIMORE @ ATLANTA -- ATL
I'm afraid I'm going to be shoveling down a huge helping of crow about Vick before this season is over. The last interview I saw of him, he sounded like his I.Q. went up about 50 points.

    DALLAS @ DETROIT -- DET
The hype and hoopla for Emmitt is over. The 'Boys line is banged up, Hutch is starting his second game, and Harrington's starting to really hit a stride.

NEW ENGLAND @ BUFFALO -- BUF
Bledsoe Bowl I. Drew is making a serious bid for MVP, and Weis can't seem to get his offense jump started.

    PITTSBURGH @ CLEVELAND -- PIT
Neither team will have a running game this week, and IMO, Maddox and Couch are pretty close. I think this game comes down to defense, and the Steel Curtain has finally sealed the gaps.

NEW YORK (JETS) @ SAN DIEGO -- SD
Pennington has established himself as the Jets' starter (finally), but Marty Ball is live and in full effect. The Chargers could very well make the playoffs for the first time since their Super Bowl year in '94.

ST. LOUIS @ ARIZONA -- STL
Snake, welcome to the NFC West, part II. Meet Mr. Faulk, Mr. Bruce, and Mr. Holt.

JACKSONVILLE @ NEW YORK (GIANTS) -- JAX
Coughlin will have the Jags playing for pride after losing to Houston last week, and Fassel will be the OC for Big Blue.

    CINCINNATI @ HOUSTON -- HOU
LaBeau 'guaranteed' a win this week against the expansion Texans. Dick, you ain't Jim Fassel, and the Bungles ain't the 2000 Giants.

MINNESOTA @ TAMPA BAY -- TB
The 'Randy Ratio' vs. the #1 Defense in the league. The Bucs WR's are banged up, thanks to the #4 Defense in the league :D , but they should be able to pound it out on the ground with a heavy dose of Pittman and Alstott.

    PHILADELPHIA @ CHICAGO -- PHI
The Eagles are due soon for another upset loss, but I'm not picking it this week. Chicago's offense still hasn't shown up yet. Anyone check Soldier Field?

    TENNESSEE @ INDIANAPOLIS -- IND
Edge and George are both banged up, and both offenses need the run to really fly. Both defenses are questionable, so I'll give the advantage to the home team.

SAN FRANCISCO @ OAKLAND -- SF
Both teams should be fired up for this heated rivalry that doesn't happen often enough. But the Raiders will continue their late season slide, and the Niners will continue their post-season push.

    WASHINGTON @ SEATTLE -- WAS
The Gatorskins D is starting to come around, and with Hasselbeck at the helm, Seattle's offense poses little threat. Was it just me, or did anyone else get a call from Spurrier to try out for QB?

MIAMI @ GREEN BAY -- GB
With a gimpy Brett Favre against Ray Lucas, both teams will be relying heavily on the run. Green and Williams are both very productive backs. This game could come down to FG's, and Mare is about equal to Longwell. If the matchup is even, give the nod to the Pack on the frozen tundra.

Maybe Vick can help out Pepper's. No one sounds a dumb as Peppers doing an interview.

I don't know that I've ever heard an interview with Pep. I know I haven't heard one since he was drafted. The good news is DE's don't have to be as smart as QB's.

The thing I had against Vick was that in every interview I saw of him, he came across to me as being dumb as a friggin' brick. All the athletic ability in the world, to be sure, but seemed to me like he had absolutely zero upstairs.

But last weekend before the NO game, he was actually speaking in complete sentences...mostly. At the very least, he seemed as articulate as a college sophomore.

The bottom line is Peppers knows his place. He seems like a humble guy. I talked to him once, he was very nice, and didn't sound stupid, although he did seem like a little kid. Smiled alot.
He knows he's still a kid, and media attention makes him nervous.

Vick is, and will be, a great player if he can stay healthy. He, on the other hand, believes his shit don't stink, and that will hurt him in the long run.

edit: Oh, and if you've ever talked to Vick in person for more than a soundbite, you'd know the guy doesn't know how to swallow. He either spits or slobbers.
And Bear, didn't Peppers go to your beloved UNC? And he sounds stupid? Imagine that.
