We do. Palmer is the real deal, he's way above any other QB in the draft or soon to be available free agency. He's worth it.

Palmer on this team with no other changes is worth atleast 2 more wins. You can't say that about any other player in the draft. We can use FA to address the other needs. This Defense to too damn good to waste years.

If the price is reasonable I wouldn't disagree. Palmer is the best QB out there. He isn't a sure thing - so the price better be right - but he would help us quicker than the other QBs available.

Even if we didn't address all of the other needs getting Palmer probably puts us in a better position in the future.

Leftwich looks pretty good. Leftwich was also just as good last year.

    I like Leftwich over Palmer.

  4. both will be gone by the time the panthers pick.

Assuming a healthy Leftwitch, perhaps. Carson is the better athlete, though. That nine yard scamper on third and 8 at the 3 was huge. He’s the complete physical package, the only question is can he read an NFL defense.

  6. Since he's west coast I haven't seen him play very much. He did however basically suck until this year....I'm wondering if he had trouble getting the offense down and reading defenses....if that is true, it'll take him a couple of years to get the NFL down.

Yep, Palmer has a few things that seperate him ever so slightly from Leftwich. 1 is that overall athletic ability Piper mentions. The other is the mechanics Palmer is showing in terms of footwork and delivery which are close to flawless right now.
Leftwich is super effective despite some small flaws in delivery and footwork.

However, Leftwich is almost freakishly accurate and he sees the field with tremendous vision.

Both of these guys are franchise type QBs but Palmer has just the slightest edge right now IMO. Leftwich's lack of mobility and injury status must go into the comparision as well.

He had a strong freshman year, got hurt his softmore year, and basically stank his Junior year. He had to learn a different system each year. This was his second year under Chow.
It will likely take him some time to learn to read defenses though. Chow’s system is more timing based

I would agree with Y2's original post that we need to trade up to get at least ONE of the two. I think both will be successful in the NFL.

I wouldn't be overly disappointed if we walked away with Eli Manning either to be honest... any one of the 3 and I'd think we did as best we could at drafting a QB... none are a "sure" thing... there may be a guy below them that becomes the next Brett Farve, but those 3 are the only 3 worth gambling a first round pick on
