Wonder what that means for local affiliates. One of them (at least in Charlotte) is gonna have to do something else.

From what I hear, one of the current UPN and WB affailiates in all the markets will pick up the new network and its programming. My guess for Charlotte is that WJZY will pick up the rights to the network since they're owned by Capital Broadcasting.

I'm courious as to what the Asheville-GSP stations will do? My guess is that WASV (owned by Media General) will pick up the new network and WBSC (Sinclair owned station) will make an attempt to pick up the local rights to FOX. There have been rumors going around that the owners of the local FOX station in Greenville SC (WHNS-Merideth Broadcasting) was wanting to drop WHNS.

Maybe one of the stations here in CLT becomes PAX (family friendly network) . . . .

That's very possible. I only have one Charlotte channel on my TV, but isn't there a Channel 64 that has been Independent for quite a while? Could they possibly be a player in the new "CW" network?

Probably not. Think about it, why negotiate with a whole new affiliate, when you could simply move all of your data to one affiliate that you already have a contract with.

I also wouldn't expect PAX simply because the available slot wouldn't be a cable slot, but rather a standard network slot. PAX is generally only cable based. I would like to see it brought here thought.

WWWB is also owned by Capitol but I still think WJZY will get it, that is what a poster on radioinfo.com was speculating because of better programming and a slightly stronger signal. Hadn't heard about the WHNS deal--what is that all about? If WJZY gets CW, the Bobcats ought to switch over to WWWB next year so they wouldn't have to worry about CW preemptions.

PAX has become the "I", all infomericals. I hope not.

I think the new network will be all ex-WB or UPN affiliates. Besides, WAXN has a better lead-in to their 10:00 news produced by sister station WSOC--Oprah, than anything CW will offer.

It's just a case of big dog-little dog competition. Big dog (CBS/Warner Bros.) buys out little dog(UPN) eliminating the competition. In the long run Big dog benefits and we the consumers are channeled/given fewer choices for viewing. TV ain't nothing but an outlet for advertising with just enough program/show to hold you until the next advertisment.:banned:
