Thank God, I guess. Not only is Watson a very-likely sexual predator who would have further alienated the fans from the organization, but trading for him at Houston's asking price would have set the team back for a decade. This is a case of the Tepper being so shitty as an owner that it ends up being a blessing in the long run. If this were 2018, New Car Smell Tepper with Rivera and an NFL-caliber coaching staff, I'm guessing Watson would be more accepting to Carolina.

They (Panther Org) never responded when I asked them what female PSL owners were supposed to do if they signed Watson.

 

That doesn't surprise me. Everything this owner does is basically a "Fuck You" to long time fans.



For whichever team gets him, I expect the PR strategy to sound something like "BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, BLACK, WE LOVE BLACKS, BLACK LIVES MATTER, BLACK, BLACK, GIRL POWER, GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS, BLACK GIRLS, TRANS GIRLS TOO, SEE WE'RE ACTUALLY GOOD PEOPLE".

 

He really has gone off the rails, predictably. He has a shiny new toy on that shitty ass carpet he laid out. Great attendance last week, and I really like a lot of the people running that operation, but he’ll go back in the hiding around training camp. And it’s so ridiculous that they have this coach lingering. I’m not trying to be an asshole, but I’ve been following this team and this organization for a quarter of a century plus, and I know dog shit when I see it. Pulling a Saddam Hussein on the JJR statue in rush-hour traffic runs a little bit counter to hiring private investigators, reportedly, to track the Watson legal situation, but this is who this owner is, and we told you that in 2018.

By the way, there’s a very distinct possibility that Deshaun Watson, if it turns out that he’s not a criminal sex offender, has absolutely zero interest in joining this organization. You’ll have a few suitors, and nothing about Matt Rhule’s presence would make me feel like I’m maximizing my window as a franchise quarterback.

I think my theory from last summer has some validity, and I’d like to revisit it: Tepper was going to be busy with soccer for a couple of years, so he went for a radical hire with Baylor’s coach, and just told him to go try a bunch of new shit out and see what sticks. High risk, low percentage, but if it works, he’s a fucking genius. And he loves nothing more than being the guy who did something nobody else did. The only thing he’s lost, and he doesn’t seem to give a shit, is a pretty significant chunk of Goodwill.

I’m thankful that I’m not a fan anymore, and I’m just providing analysis. I couldn’t live and die each week with what I’m seeing right now.
