I wished Raycom would fold and ESPN would cover it all....Here in WNC, alot of these games are supposedly in HD but they're shown on Channel 40 (My Network TV) and they havent went to HD yet...Its driving me nuts.

I have been thinking the same thing. If the broadcast is in HD but the channel supplying the game hasn't upgraded then blackout rules shouldn't apply.

Raycom absolutely sucks. Twice during the UNC/Va Tech game they went to commercials when the game was still going on. Scott pr..whatever's.. microphone was cutting in and out during his interviews. If Raycom shows 2 games at the same time, only one of them is in HD (guess they only have one HD camera set?)
Raycom is horrible - can't stand games that they cover.

    Thanks for the feedback.

We often do 2 games at once, "split games" where both games are in HD but if certain stations carry the game, they can only broadcast one in SD, including such bigger market stations as WBTV and WRAL. All of our HD games are done with leased trucks, just as with ESPN. We actually use many of the same trucks as ESPN, FOX, CBS, NBC etc. We do have our own satellite HD uplink truck which is state of the art. We hope to build our own HD production trucks but at $8-10 million a pop, the current economy doesn't look good for that prospect.

The issue with Scottie P's microphone was very unfortunate. The ACC tourney venue is not an RF coordinated site, something we have been addressing, and someone in the arena was using RF gear on the same frequency. We are working to track that issue down.

As for going to commericals while the game was on? That wasn't us. It may have been your local station trying to squeeze in an extra break, but we didn't miss any game action today. Please PM me the station you were watching the game on.

    Thanks for wishing me unemployment.
We offer our programming to stations in all markets. If you want HD coverage, I have two suggestions. Contact Channel 40 and demand that upgrader or better yet, call one of the local HD capable stations and request that they carry ACC basketball.

As for ESPN covering it all, when you get your wish, such as is happening with the SEC, you will probably get fewer games than you do now and expect your cable bill/sat bill to increase to cover the cost of a new 2.5 billion contract which is what ESPN paid for SEC rights.

I wish all of you could see the games in HD as they are transmitted, not just by us, but by ESPN, Fox Sports, etc. We monitor direct sat feeds from them and the quality is amazing but by the time the cable companies and DirecTV/Dish Network get through compressing them they look just slightly better a native analog SD feed. Gotta have 250 channels though.

If you guys have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
