he could escape the nfc south. the lions want a 3rd down back with receiving skills.

That means be prepared for Alstott 24/7.

Of course I think Warrick would be a good fit here, his expectation is probably a couple mill a season.

Warrick Dunn is a cry baby SOB and wants to be the feature back, and the only RB. Problem is he can't take the beating for a whole season. He wants starter money. Who knows, maybe he could shake and bake a little quicker on turf. Detriot has a good back with Stewart(he's still there, right?) and Dunn won't live with that any better there than here.

The Bucs are shopping Alstott I think to stall Dunn into thinking he could be the #1 guy in Tampa. Still, I would love to have Alstott. And I still say...with Mike as a feature back, he's a top five in the league, and would look just wonderful in black and blue..

dunn can't take a beating? first off, he had plenty of touches as the one-back at florida state. second, if you watch him play, he goes down like the rams receivers, avoiding direct hits to his body -- and thats when he doesnt bounce off tacklers.

warrick dunn is no crybaby. he's one of the most stand-up team players you'll ever see. show me one quote where he's "crying" about being a starter.

mike alstott might be the most over-rated player in the nfl.

Sorry Larry, I can't show you a quote in print, I hear it on the radio from his teammates and people who talk to his teammates, so from me it's hearsay. Dunn wasn't healthy all of last season, and I don't think the year before, and he splits time with Mike. While Dunn was out, Mike avg 100 yds/game and for the season had almost twice as many TD's and double the yards per carry.

(edit: Not to be short, but I'm home with a teething 3 month old and I'm trying to stretch her feeding to noon)

I have a lot of respect for Dunn. Nobody probably has done more for the community than Dunn, especially for single Moms and he is a stand up guy. He has great talent catching the ball out of the back field and as a third down back. His career at FSU is legendary, but so was the Rockets at ND. I just don't see him as a feature back with 30 rushes. I see him as a compliment to a strong back getting about 15-20 touches a game: rushing/receiving/KR/PR. Basically just get him in open space.

Remember, if it's info from SandMan triple check it first. Don't be brnging' any 'friend of a friend whose dog works with a psychic who feels that it may be possible that someone would have inside info on a guy you don't like and here it is' breaking news.

where are you getting your stats, y2?

mike alstott hat TWO 100-yard games last season, 129 against minnesota (of all teams) and 101 against new orleans. of course, it took him 28 and 24 carries, respectively, to get that yardage.

his other rushing totals, by game?

    12
    24
    77
    4
    15
    30
    48
    2
    34
    24
    66
    23
    80
    11
    and...when it counted most...
32 -- in a playoff loss to philly.

i give him credit for cutting WAY down on his fumbles last season though. don't get me wrong -- by exposing alstott, i'm not saying that dunn is the greatest back ever. someone else said it best: alstott and dunn are the most overrated running tandem since mondale and ferraro.

Well atleast I count 17 games for Alstott, how many for Dunn? Part of the reason Dungy is gone is because he didn't play Alstott. Really, I don't even like watching the Bucs much less talking about 'em. Anyways, I thought I heard that in Dunn's absence Mike had avg 100 ypg. I'm probably confused or wasn't paying all that much attention.

Warrick Dunn is one of the nicest guys in the NFL. He has battled through the worst of times. He is not a thug like 90% of the players in the NFL. I would love to see him become a Panther. He has the ability to become a feature back even though he's a bit small. But I think he's the type of guy that won't back down from a challenge. Let's go after him!!!

If detroit signs dunn, they will release stewart. while stewart is a good back, he is not the prototypical west coast offense back. detroit lacks team speed and big play players which is why they want dunn...and az-hakim. stewart would be a good fit for what fox says he wants to do in carolina.
