No! I will not see it because I am pissed off at Tom's smugness and disrpect towards people with mental illness. I will wait til the DVD comes out and hope by that time Tom is dead or at least out of his cult and de-programmed. :banginghe

What plot holes? Or was this one just beyond you? The electrical devices were taken out by an EMP. the camcorder worked at first because the guy replaced the batteries, and the car was repaired with new parts.

That's fine. If you like movies like that, good for you. I like a little substance to my movies.

Then like I asked... provide some substance to your argument that there were plot holes.

The movie was basically on par to the first one, but updated w/ today's technology.

The biggest thing I've noticed from some people is they honestly weren't able to understand the movie's ending. There was only one thing I disliked about the whole movie, but it was put in to appease ignorant fans. Its beyond me how so many people (and I noticed a lot) that couldn't grasp what it was that stopped the aliens.

that's not the problem i had with the end. i don't see how anyone who has read the material or seen the first one would have an issue with the end, as far as basic storyline goes. that said, my problems are more focused on the way in which spielberg tells a story. this movie suffered from the same ho-humness that jurassic park 2 (aka the trouble with t-rexes) was saddled with. SPOILER! how did the son survive? why did the son survive? why was the neighborhood in boston untouched? why did the rest of the family come stolling out of the house as if nothing has happened? why did cruise have to take out a tripod luke skywalker-style? why was robbins character even in the movie? how was there an unruly violent mob over the minivan, but not at the ferry landing when the walkers were bearing down on them? why did the aliens/machines have to eat people? or drink their fluids? since they had to eat people why did they bother having death ray weapons? :blah:
spielberg is too manipulative of the audience, and it gets in the way of the story. he's determined to make bi-polar movies that will jerk around your emotions, up and down, until delivering some half-assed merry christmas-fuzzy cuddle bunny ending.

i'll humor you with a geek fight, but this is it for me. to each their own.

something new rather than seeing cruise play as luke skywalker would've been good. as it was, it seemed recycled, mostly because it was.

there were 10 troops at the docks, if that, holding back a throng of people with harsh language and stern faces. what chaos did ensue, with people making a jump for the ferry as it pulled away, was nothing compared to the violence over a minivan.

so if they are using people to terraform the earth, then wouldn't a death ray be counterproductive to their fertilization operations? i think they ate people because that makes it "scarier". story be damned. it didn't help the walkers any...they still looked silly and had a loud fog horn or intergalactic whoopee cushion as a sound effect. the old manta ray ships were creepy in appearance and sound.

the robbins character/basement scene bothers me. if he's what you say and nothing more than a display of a crazy person, then why is 45 minutes or so of screen time given to him? why devote that much time to a stereotype when it could be done by a wacky extra roaming the streets with an "end is near" sign? when you look at how long he's on, it justifies his essential status. what the hell is the significance of that status? the best sequence in the robbins/basement not only could've been done just as well without him, but in fact it's already been done without him. spielberg even included a mirror bit in this version of his "raptors in the kitchen" scene.
