I don't know that we can afford to not look at Anderson as a starter on the right side. He's a good fit there, and should be there anyway.
If you don't want to see him as a starter for the year that's fine but I have to assume we set forth looking to find two corners total.

Bengals | Harris Close? But Not In Cincinnati - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
16:03 PT: Geoff Hobson reports for Bengals.com free agent CB Walt Harris (Bears) may be nearing a conrtact agreement with a team, but it's not the Bengals. Brian Levy, Harris’ agent, said Thursday he was working on a deal with another team and, “it’s not the Bengals. There’s no money there.”

Kinda makes one wonder. I doubt it's us, though.

No doubt we'll be looking to add 2, I am thinking possibly three if Davis is one of two FA signings, based on his age.
True, Anderson is a better fit on the right side, but I say make him earn the spot and bring someone in to REALLY compete with him for the spot.
He hasn't shown us much on the left, makes me wonder if moving back to the right is going to really change that much. I mean, normally you expect more from a first rounder. Moving him to Safety probably didn't help matters much either.

We'll be looking to add two. Will the two be both free agents?

Do you honestly believe we can add two free agents, one be a starting level player, and still need a first day pick? Too many needs, sorry. Next year.

Generally you want to carry at least five on the active roster, sometimes six if one is a return guy. So two FA, a pick, Anderson and Harper or (name slips my mind) fight for the final spot. Or you eliminate one FA or the pick (I'd prefer to have a pick in this draft either way) and keep the rest.
Not every pick make the team, and not every vet stays either. Get the bodies here and let them decide who goes.

deciding to carry five and all that is fine but the end result is need versus ability to acquire. Can we honestly afford to spend money on two good corners and then a first day pick? With our needs, now's not the time to load one position and hope the cream floats to the top by September.

I think CB is the only position we could do that with. Otherwise I'd vote against it, if I had a vote?
Of course, the financially wise and probable way we'd go would be to sign some UFA's to battle for the final spot after signing a FA and a pick. That's the most likely scenario.

well, my thoughts are already known by now on this thread, but if you can find us the firepower to get us a vet like Chavous and then a nickel like McDaniel, and then still say that we must have a corner in 2 or 3, more power to you. I would get one now and wait for the draft.

Forget about Harris, he's signed with the Colts.
