KFFL says Panthers are interested in him. Thoughts? Can we afford him?

He can be disposable, so that's good. Long contract, small bonus, make him earn big money. Average height, weight, skills, middle of the road player on a good team last year.

Harris has been solid at best, AT TIMES. He is horribly inconsistent and gambles a little to much, kind of like Hitchcock...except Hitch was able to win one now and then.
I almost threw up when the Bears drafted him in the first round!
He has developed a nice style of physical play though, but is not a big hitter.

    Bad hands too.

But he's better than Hitch. Remember, da Beasrs did not have a real strong pass rush with the front 4, they zone blitzed a lot. Good physical corner. Nothing I'd overpay.

    Get Harris and Davis, perhaps?

Nah, if we get Davis we just get Davis. Unless we're completely negating a draft pick this year.

If we can get 2 FA cheap enough, I don't think it would eliminate a CB in the draft. Davis is 34, not many years left, having a guy ready, waiting in the wings wouldn't be a bad move. Wouldn't necssarily have to be that second rounder (at the latest) that I want.

McFly, if we do get Davis, you still want to trade down or would you be more inclined to take Peppers then? Not trying to start a debate, just wondering.

If we sign 2 FA corners, then I would probably be against trading down, because we could get both of the starters we need at DE and LB. If we only sign Davis, I feel we still need that starting CB through the draft, cuz Anderson has played like a steaming pile.

That gives us three corners. If you're talking, say, Davis and Dave Thomas or Emmanuel McDaniel, then you might be able to look at a corner. If you're talking Davis and Harris, you've got three starting level corners. Not perfect players, any of them, but enough that getting the second free agent should have a purpose.

The way I see it, we don't have a starting QB now. I consider Anderson a nickle back at best until he shows up. Getting two cheap FA will create a competition for the starting spots and probably make them all play a little better. Those FA should be considered of Starter quality or else we better be adding a pick to the mix.
