That interpretation is based upon the assumption that the book of Revelation actually should be in the Christian Cannon, and also an interpretation of Revelation that sees it as end time prophecy instead of coded anti-Roman Christian literature that predicted the end of the Roman Empire.

The Dome of the Rock is the third holiest site in Islam, after Mecca and Medina. Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammed ascended to heaven from this spot to receive instructions from God. There is a large imprint on the rock which Muslims say is the footprint of the angel Gabriel, who took Muhammed to heaven.

That rock is also supposed to be the spot upon which Abraham placed Issac in order to sacrifice him to God. Of course Abraham did not have to actually sacrifice Issac because God provided a lamb and told Abraham to sacrifice it instead.

Not all christians subscribe to this view. A lot do though. I have never been very big into end of time prophecy and do not really know enough to disagree or agree with it. There seems to be some logic to it though. Tearing down that shrine and rebuilding the jewish temple there would be a good precursor to armageddon.

Yea, I know just pointing out why the Muslims won't let a new temple be built without a fight.

I'm a Christian but I don't believe that particular belief that states that a temple will be built where the anti-Christ will proclaim himself to be God, thus starting Armageddon.

Personally, I think that there are a lot of holes in that theory that don't necessary wash with the rest of scripture or with history.

Anyway, just trying to say that there are millions of christians who do not believe in this end of time theory.

I will say, however, that millions more do believe in it and that many mega churches actually give billions of dollars to Israel in order to bring about the political situation where the dome of the rock can be torn down.

    Just what I've heard.

I am not 100% sold on that theory either. I have had it taught to me many times but it does not seem as rock solid as most bible teachings. There is a lot of interpretation needed to support it. I am not convinced it is wrong either though. If it does happen that way I expect it to be a muslim who destroys the dome of the rock. Either by bombing Israel and mistakenly hitting it or by a terrorist looking to blame it on Israel and start a huge war I think it will not be a jew or christian who destroys it.

End-of-the-world prophecies are cheaper by the dozen. The problem with this one is that the most zealous of its believers will accept body counts in the billions to force it to happen.

If civillization falls, it will be by our own hands.

The following line "appeared" to me out of nowhere as I was drifting out of sleep one morning. I may try to work it into a story someday:

"Poor beggars. Their Apocalypse never came, so they created their own."

God allows mankind freewill to choose both good and evil. Just today Hezbollah said they will soon begin firing their long range rockets capable of traveling 120 miles..reaching both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
One of these wildly flung rockets could easily reach the Dome of the Rock; This could be the method God chooses, thus allowing the Islamists to destroy it themselves.
Israel wants to live in peace..on a very small piece of land given them by God Himself. But there are those who wish death to all Jews and especially to those in Israel.

And no, I am not a Jew, though I do have claim a kindred spirit with them...because my Lord and Saviour was a Jew, and because they are God's chosen ..those he chose to reveal Himself to mankind.
