This series is being shown again on SC PBS ETV...this was my first viewing..it was absolutely wonderful ...The first episode re God calling Abraham out from among the pagans to the promised land..quite educational as to the importance of Abraham, "Father of Nations" to the Christians, Jews and Islam...the camera was allowed inside the "Dome of the Rock" Islamic Temple built atop the spot where braham was ready to sacrifice Isaac. (This temple will be torn down as it is the spot where Solomon's Temple must be rebuilt before the return of Christ.)

The next episode will be the story of Joseph sold into slavery in Egypt..next Friday night at 10:00.

I did a thorough search and could not find where this first episode is being repeated, but if anyone learns differently, please post the date and time..it was inspirational and educational.

I caught most of this program by mistake and I thorougly enjoyed it as well.

The visuals were great (especially since I've been to that part of the world). And the commentary was insightful without being "preachy".

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest.

for reals? is that the theory? that one of the most holy places to muslims must be plowed under? no wonder they're not so keen on israel.

That is part of what a lot of christains believe about the end of time prophecy. The dome of the rock is built on the site of the old jewish temple built by Solomon. The "western wall" is all that is left from where the Romans burned it. The prophecy goes that the anti-christ will stand in the temple and proclaim himself to be God. With no temple then it is hard for that one to come true.

I do not see why that makes muslims hate Israel since most jews do not believe Jesus was the messiah or that there will ever be an anti-christ. That is all christian beliefs. Not all christians firmly believe in this story but many do.

you think muslims care that jews don't believe in christ as the messiah? i doubt the dome of the rock will ever be destroyed to make way for the solomon's temple to be rebuilt (at least officially) but that people would even talk about it seems like the kind of thing that would upset somebody who was deeply religious.

by and large, arabs have a bit of persecution complex. the whole martyrdom thing is born of this, i believe. if people openly discuss destroying one of their main holy places, i can't imagine it would just be taken as so much talk.

The point is the Jews do not openly talk about destroying it. They have not said that they want to do this nor is it prophecy in their religion. It is only christians who talk about this. I do not see how they could hate jews because of something only christians believe in.

The Dome of the Rock is the gold topped building, the western wall is the large wall in front of it.
