Here's the situation. I have cable VOIP service as I have the 3pack or what ever it's called these days. I have another VOIP phone I want to connect to the same computer. Do I need a hub or something else to hook the second VOIP phone (which has a different phone number) to the same computer? I have the VOIP hardware/software. Thanks.

I use SKYPE for my voip.

If you use the PC software then you can only do one at a time.
If you buy a skype box, you can plug as many of those into a network as you want givning you as many lines as you want.

I dont know anything about your VOIP service. If you post a link to your service I could prolly figure it out..

The sevice is provided by Comcast, the cable company. I have the TV/Phone/Internet service. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology. The phone is through the internet so I guess that makes it VOIP. Correct? I just need to add an VOIP phone. I'm thinking some kind of hub/network thing would work. I'm just really trying to avoid talking to the company because that will be a pain in the ass.

You need another phone line or another phone on the same line? I'm betting you'll have to add the second line thru Comcast.

Another phone line. The line will just be a way to receive and send calls via extension overseas. I won't be able to use the phone to make normal everyday phone calls. I have the new VOIP machine/software to hook up to the computer, the question is just how to hook it up. Hoping I don't have to go through Comcast, but you are probably correct. Ugh.

Normally, it would seem that they should provide the interface from their cable to your existing inside phone lines. Your regular phones should work.

Did they tell you that you had to hook it to your computer to work?

Nope, I just assumed VOIP went through the computer. You see, what happens is we call a phone number in Miami and magically the phone is answered overseas. Kind of neat actually. This would just be new line with new number. I have that interface as I use Comcast for my internet regular phone. I just want to add another phone with a new number.

According to Comcast you can "add a 2nd line for a small fee"...

I use Skype. Have the world service. Dont need to call a number in the US to call a number in China... just call direct.
