Forbes magazine estimates the Bobcats are worth 8 percent less than a year ago and $23 million less than the NBA originally charged primary owner Bob Johnson as an expansion fee. The Bobcats were the only franchise to drop in value on their chart. Observations

So, you think a bad cable TV deal and lack of a arena naming rights deal is hurting him in this area ? ? ? ? ? ? Hmmmmmmm . . . .

not many threads about the bobcats here either ... if people cared about this team, i would expect to see a LOT of threads!

not that i'm a fan of the NBA - i lost interest after the magic-bird era ended - but i don't know anyone who cares one hoot about the bobcats.

and the only way to fill that arena is to win games ... lots of them. i doubt if that will happen anytime soon either.

saw a note in the paper the other day ... indicated that mr. johnson doesn't even attend many games. is that true?

His official residence is in DC, but he has a Uptown Penthouse here whenever he comes into town to watch the team.

Winning more games would help the team plus a better cable TV deal . . This multi-year deal with Time Warner Cable is killing them. Outside of Charlotte/Triad/Triangle areas, nobody else can watch the game in this area. Also, areas of north Charlotte (which is on another cable system), can't get NEWS14 (which carries the Bobcats games) which is hurting their attendance/team buzz.

Only an IDIOT would have brought NBA here. BET...BJ was lucky. Obviously he has the business sense of a cow. CSET? Fuck. My parents have money...they are retired in Rock Hill and can't even watch the Bobcats on TV. My Dad said he'd love to get into them, but he can't really follow them.

That's about 50 tickets a year between them lost...think about how many others? Bob Johnson is a FOOL.

CSET would've worked if it was on regular cable . . Bob miscalculated the demand for NBA basketball here (casual, not enough die hard fans here). It would add value to team if it had succed (like YES Network for the Yankees, NESN for the Red Sox, etc.). not having enough programming hurt the network also (you can't have your Bobcats/Sting staff members coming up with programming ideas for CSET Bob   . . U need to hire pros to do this!!!). I would've started having Bobcats games on FOX SPORTS NET then in 3-5 years start a regional sports network . . .

O.K. bring on the jokes, but I like the Bobcats, a lot! I've attended almost every home game since they started 3 seasons ago, and can't get enough. I like basketball, and I'm seeing these games for $10 (can't beat it)! More wins, makes attending games more enjoyable, but I want them to tank this season, so we'll have a shot at some of this college talent. Go Bobcats.

Just don't really care about the NBA game of today. I have tried to get an interest in it, but just not gonna happen.

Lebron was on Letterman last night and they kept showing a "highlight" of him taking 3 clear steps and then dunking the ball and I'm like why the fuck would I want to pay to see that?
