With the conference championships now decided, I figure I'd piss off Collin a little more with an updated look on what a Division 1-A National Playoff would look like. IM just putting it at 16 teams because it's an even number and each team playing the same number of games. Also, all games are on neutral sites (bowl sites) with the higher seed gaining some near-home field advantage as they will play at the nearest bowl site.

The tournament is designed to get the best teams to face off in a winner-take-all tournament, with the winner being the best team in America. The BCS, or you could refer it to the PCS (Playoff Championship System), would be utilized for playoff seeding...nothing more. Here we go!

    Miami, FL (8)
    Auburn (9)

    ------------------------------------
At San Diego, CA (Poinsettia Bowl)
    (16) Arkansas State

    Quarterfinal Games
    -------------------------------------
    At Tempe, AZ (Fiesta Bowl)
    (8) Miami, FL
    (1) Southern California

    At Houston, TX (Houston Bowl)
    (12) Florida State
    (4) Ohio State

    Semifinal Games
    -------------------------------------
    At Miami, FL (Orange Bowl)
    (4) Ohio State
    (1) Southern California

At Atlanta, GA (Sugar Bowl, relocated due to damaged New Orleans)
    (6) Notre Dame
    (2) Texas

NCAA Division 1-A National Championship Game
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    At Pasadena, CA (Rose Bowl)
    (2) Texas
    (1) Southern California

I know its raw, and it could use some tweaking...But its not a bad field. With what happened in the conference championship games, more teams could be added (24 has been the consensus) and would make it better. Besides Collin's dissenting opinion, ya'll reckon it would work for you? :ylsuper:

Dude, you're not pissing me off. I showed why your ideas are bad and then caused you to wet your pants after finding out that your physical threats might get you into real trouble, but I certainly don't mind entertaining hypotheticals. Imagining what would happen in a tournament is not only fine, but potentially fun. I just don't think it would be a good idea to implement because of the reasons already mentioned.

Here's how I think it would play out based on match-ups, talent, and who is hot right now (some of your seedings are crap, by the way):

    USC over Arkansas State
    Auburn over Miami
    Florida State over Oregon
    Ohio State over Boise State
    TCU over Notre Dame
    Penn State over Tulsa
    Georgia over West Virginia
    Texas over Akron

    Auburn over USC
    Ohio State over Florida State
    Penn State over TCU
    Texas over Georgia

    Auburn over Ohio State
    Texas over Penn State

    Texas over Auburn

Collin, I seeded the teams by the final BCS standings. It was the only thing I could seed by. With Boise State (9-3), Tulsa (8-4), Akron (7-5), and Arkansas State (6-5) unranked, I went by best records. Its about as good as I could get it.

That's not a bad tournament you posted....
