    Kosuke Fukudome Update

    The Hanshin Tigers offered free agent outfielder Kosuke Fukudome roughly $18.5MM over four years. They've now withdrawn their offer, leaving the Yomiuri Giants as his only Japanese suitor. I'm assuming that means Fukudome's former team, the Chunichi Dragons, is also out of the running. (By the way, the Hanshin Tigers have switched their attention to signing Lew Ford).
    Fukudome should make at least $30MM over three years in the United States.

    The Rangers, Mets, Cubs, Giants, White Sox, and Padres may all have interest.

    Kosuke Fukudome Coming To MLB

    In case there was any question, Ken Rosenthal reports that Kosuke Fukudome will announce that he's leaving Japan for an MLB team.
    Rosenthal says it's down to the Cubs, Padres, and what I like to call a Mystery Team. The Rangers, Giants, and White Sox are candidates. And although Rosenthal doesn't mention them, the Royals could be in the mix. Ken Davidoff reported on Wednesday that Fukudome had narrowed his choices to the Cubs and Royals (though it's known that the Padres made a substantial offer). Note that Davidoff's article came out after news of the Royals' Jose Guillen signing broke.

    The cubbies are reportedly ready to offer up to 50 million to Fukudome for four years. The only offer even close is the Padres 30 million for 3 years. Padres front office has said that the 30 million contract is the maximum that they will offer.

    Oh, and colon, just so you know.....I was right about Fukudome coming to the Majors....

    Everyone had been saying for months that Fukudome would be coming to MLB, genius. He was a free agent, and the Japanese league doesn't compare to MLB in terms of salaries.
