Oh I know...one of my roommate's is a huuuuge UNC fan. Gonna have to bust him a little bit. Last year after ECU beat UNC he was on this whole non-qualifier thing....told him every school has ways to get certain athletes in...got the whole "Carolina way" thing from him. How they only do it the "right" way...all the kids good, blah, blah, blah.

I don't like the way it's being handled, but I understand that coaches aren't necessarily beholden to players recruited by the guy who came before them. Plus as I have mentioned repeatedly, it is not uncommon for in-state players from relatively affluent families to give up scholarships as juniors or seniors to let new players have them. I imagine some may also be moved to need-based or academic scholarships.

True, after all, aren't football scholarships year to year anyway? It gives the coaches a way out.

Bet the cuts will come from the defense after today's performance.

...all D1 athletic scholarships are 1 year only. Its been that way since the late 70's.
As for the previous post about a new coach honoring a commitment to a player from the exiting coach.....sorry, commitments are non binding to either party.
