of a program! Coming from a Tarheels fan, I think the way UNC chose to handle the "resignation" of Matt Doherty was a complete JOKE!

First, they "accept" his resignation based on the grounds it was the best thing for the university, "and I respect that", says Baddourknob.

Second, it was an obvious cover up otherwise why would Doherty NOT speak for himself at the press conference. Sure he must have been devastated, but gimme a damn break. I also love how his designated speaker threw in how Doherty insisted upon privacy. Of course he did, they all probably agreed to not expose the truth of fear it would make UNC look idiotic.

Third, Baddours comments were totally unprofessional and out of line. He directly made reference that this wasn't a decision based on wins and losses, rather Doherty's demeanor and player relationships. This will scar Doh for a long time.

In summary, Doherty, who bleeds Carolina Blue, took one up the ass for the same university he so dearly loves, agreed to remain silent so as not to embarrass the institution or the families of the players who were whining bitches, then in return the program (mainly Dirtbag Baddour) publicly sticks a hot shaft right up Doh's ass! To top it off, the Chancelor stepped in to save Baddour when a reporter with enough balls asked Baddour about his handling of all the previous debacles under his reigns.

Dick is a classless act and should be hung out to dry for the humiliation he personally has caused UNC athletics for the past 7 years. If there is any justice in the world, he should be flattened by a beer truck with a Duke logo painted on the side.

I am not a UNC "fan"...

...I do respect the history and tradition of UNC hoops, but I just have to say.

When does a person quit his job and receive a severance package? If Doherty had in fact resigned, why did the school give 300K+ as he left?

If Doherty did indeed resign, then he knew something about the school that the school wanted kept quiet. I beleive he was fired, and got the settlement cash on the way out.

    Just my .02 .....

Hope that the players that didn't like him have guts enough now to stick around and play their asses of for the next guy....Doh's gone because of them...

You obviously don't know me Shock. Please notice the target of my frustration. Ask yourself where both the football and basketball programs COULD be under the reigns of a more directive leader. He had Roy Williams committed then let him slip away. You think Torbush was the 1st choice to replace Mack Brown? They took the logical move to upgrade the DC to the Head Coach position, but he wasn't the primary candidate.

I could go on and on, but it's clear to me that Baddour needs to go. Personally, I am disappointed that Doherty is gone. I liked his style. That doesn't make me a fair weather fan.

Basically Doherty was told "quit or be fired".

It looks a LOT better for him to resign.

Even I will second wossa's amen to this comment. He has done nothing for Carolina athletics: football, basketball, Mike Roberts in baseball and Anson Dorance in women's soccer. And I have even less respect for Chancellor Moeser after his comments at the press conference.

Doherty had faults, he was not ready for the job. Perhaps the Notre Dame position would have been too much. We'll never know. Rumor says the Notre Dame athletic department threw a party when he left, he forced 2 longtime basketball secretaries to resign and fired the secretary who coordinated activities with former players, which reportedly upset several former UNC players. However, Baddour and Moeser hung him out to dry last night and that was wrong.
