Yes, the question wasnt who exceeded expectations the most, it was who had the better season.

And the answer to that is unquestionably Duke based on the actual results. Especially given that UNC didnt really exceed any expectations based on preseason rankings. They did just about exactly what they were predicted to do. Except they won the meaningless ACC regular season instead of came in 2nd.

    Agreed. 100%

It's really a silly argument. Really.

No one counts Elite 8s. There is no 'master' list shown or discussed about Elite 8s.

Perhaps I shouldn't have said 'no one' I should have said 'no school that matters.'

Duke and UNC play for Final Fours and ACC Championships with the occasional National Championship.

Davidson can play for Elite 8s.

edit: Although with VCU and Butler making a FF this year, E8s have never been more worthless.

Do you want to ever discuss anything or do you just want to bleat around for 27,000 more posts?

LOL....The ONLY reason you're downplaying the accomplishment of making the elite 8 is because the Heels got there, and Duke didn't. So stop it, you're starting to look silly.

No that's not my point at all. UNC got further than Duke did, that's an accomplishment.

I'm downplaying an Elite 8 in saying it's not a Final Four, which it isn't.

The argument is is an Elite 8 better than an ACC Championship. I say it isn't. And if Duke makes it to the Elite 8 next year while UNC wins the ACC Championship my answer will remain the same.

If Duke made it to the Final Four while UNC won the ACC Championship, I'd say the FF is more impressive. But I understand why some might still claim the ACC Championship is more impressive.

You can laugh all you want but I remember years and years of UNC fans defending their Sweet 16 streak while winning ACC Championships. Well that's what Duke did this year.

I'd think the ADs of respective schools care a heck of a lot about Elite 8's when the $$$ is considered. Also bet all the other AD's of the respective conference also care a heck of a lot about Elite 8's when a conference member makes it that far.
