Hardly. If not for a stupid call on 4th and 1 it would be 21-17. It's the run defense that sucks. The rest of the team is playing pretty well. Actually, there was a bad spot on Rutgers' 2nd TD drive where they were stopped on 3rd down but given enough for the first, so it should be closer than that. Coulda, woulda, shoulda doesn't mean shit if you can't stop their running back, though.

*sigh* We should have won this game. 3 dumb turnovers deep in Rutgers territory, otherwise Carolina would have come out with the victory.

giving up huge chunks of yardage on the ground to Rutgers is unacceptable. at one point in the second half they were giving up 7 yds. per carry for the game. that is piss poor at any level. the Rice kid got over 200 yds. on the ground for the game, most of it was right up the wazoo. Bunting was out-coached and his team was out-played.

    terrible loss

Give up 223 yards rushing, and you never "should" win that game.

After next week 0-2. If they lose to Furman then it's all about the Bunting Watch, and Roy and the boys get the rest of the attention.

217, and it's an embarrassment, certainly, but Rutgers also gave up 169. Plus Carolina had more total yards. If not for the three unforced turnovers, the Tar Heels would have won. This one was crucial, though. The schedule is way too tough to give away any games.

    Didn't say Rutgers was good.

And on memory, run defense seems to be a recent weakspot in recent years for NC. Just sayin.

Saw a bit of the game. NC seemed to be a little more physical on offense, that Foster kid looks pretty good. So that's something.

Carolina's run defense has sucked for pretty much the last five seasons, yes. Still, it's absolutely true that Carolina lost the game more than Rutgers won it. Rice and their offensive line were amazing, but the rest of the team was outplayed. Dailey's two Jake-like INTs and Cignetti's call on 4th and goal were what killed the Tar Heels.
