It amazing that every time someone posts something about the Heels - it turns into a dick measuring contest.

I'd love to just talk about the topic and leave out all the dick jerk'n.

Peoria Central standout's final 4 includes Illinois
    By Marlen Garcia
    Tribune staff reporter

    July 30, 2003

Illinois, Arizona, Duke and North Carolina are Shaun Livingston's final four.

Peoria Central's All-State senior point guard, considered one of the nation's top basketball prospects, said last week he's in no hurry to pick a school.

He said he plans to make an oral commitment by Thanksgiving, but he won't sign a letter of intent until spring 2004.

"You never know what's going to happen with coaching changes," said Livingston, listed at 6 feet 7 inches on summer-event rosters. "I learned that with coach [Bill] Self leaving [Illinois]."

Illinois remains attractive for two reasons: Livingston admires Illini assistant Wayne McClain and he is friends with Illinois recruits Richard McBride of Springfield Lanphier and Brian Randle of Peoria Notre Dame.

"I grew up watching [McClain] coach at Peoria Manual," Livingston said.

McClain recently turned down an offer to return to Peoria Manual, which he coached to three state championships from 1995 to 1997.

Still, Illinois is currently "even" with Arizona, Duke and North Carolina until Livingston takes his visits later this summer and fall.

Rumors are brewing on the summer national circuit that Livingston might bypass college for the NBA. Not true, he said.

"I have to get stronger," said Livingston, who is a lean 170 pounds.

"I have to add more weight, work on my foot speed and work at knocking down open shots on the perimeter."

Illinois also hopes to sign Shaun Pruitt, a 6-9 center from West Aurora. Pruitt lists Illinois and Michigan State as front-runners, although Arizona and Marquette are also in contention, he said. He expects to choose a school by September.

Where does everyone get their recruiting rankings? I'm in need of a few good sites.

Btw...great recruiting class by Roy. As long as these guys stay a year or two then he's getting it done.

It's a lot harder to hate Roy than it was to hate Doh. I'm doing my best though. :D
