Me and the Mrs. visited my parents over the weekend and as usual my father had a list of 'fix-its' already planned for me (for his PC).

One of which still has me completely confused:

He had installed both Adaware and another Spyware (Spybot?) detection utility and ran them both. In the process it found a load of spyware that was installed. He immediately deleted all the spyware.

Now for the good part - when accessing certain portions of websites - he gets a 'cannot access server' error. This usually occurs when logging into a website that has a secure page (such as an order site) or even into the Microsoft Update site.

I checked all his internet settings and everything was on default. i went ahead and reset them all - deleted all his cookies - checked the objects folder and cleaned it out but everything is still a no go.

Anyone ever ran across this before or got any ideas?

    Thanks.

I had this once before and had to adjust the MTU Size and now it works. I'll look a little further and let you know.

What was the specific issue you were having?

Any time I tried to access an HTTPS Site it would give me some kinda server not found or something. I adjusted the MTU size on the router to below 900 and it worked. I don't know if he is using a router or not. If not he needs to download a certain program to adjust this. I'm looking now.
