    RALEIGH -- Marcus Hudson and Corrie Dawson have been suspended from the North Carolina State football team after being charged with felonious transaction card theft, a school official said.

    Hudson, a starting cornerback, and Dawson, a second-team linebacker, were arrested Thursday and suspended indefinitely by coach Chuck Amato, said Annabelle Vaughan, the school's sports information director.

    An all-campus card used by sophomores Hudson and Dawson at a campus vending machine Tuesday belonged to another student, N.C. State police said. The card is similar to a debit or credit card that can be used at various places on campus.

    The student told police $344 was charged to his account before he realized the card was missing.

    Warrants were issued Thursday for the two players, who turned themselves in to campus police, Vaughan said.

    N.C. State officials declined to comment further on the incident, citing the student athlete code of conduct.

    Hudson started all 14 games for the No. 12 Wolfpack with three interceptions and 40 tackles. Dawson played in 10 games and had 27 tackles.

    why are football and basketball players held to a differnent standard than the rest of the student body? I'm willing to bet a lot of students have been arrested for much worse.
