How could you not want to see that in the theater? Did you watch the 10 minute preview of Return of the King? How was it?

They are going to release the extended versions of Fellowship and Towers in theaters in Dec. so you will have the chance to watch all three movies in one day!!

I'll wait for the extended version. It will be damn long, but at home at least I can pause and take a break if I need one. And with the extended version, there will be like 30-45 minutes of additional footage that was not in the theatrical version (which is the version just released).

    Re: Re: Two Towers

I bet it is like the "preview" of the two towers they did on the first dvd - 9 minutes of interviews and one minute of film clips. That disappointed me - I was hoping to see an extra long trailer not hearing Peter Jackson talking about making the movie.

I won't buy this DVD - I'll just wait for the full and final extended version set that comes out next year with the whole trilogy.

I had to buy it. I'm getting ready to watch it now. I saw it twice in the theatre.

When you have a 7 year old it's kinda tough to take her to see that one. Plus I have a 52 inch TV with surround. Pretty much the theater experience without all the hassle and cost. Plus I can drink a beer while I watch!

How can you wait that long? I'm waiting for the extended version as well but that will come out in Nov. I can't imagine waiting another year to buy all three at once. I'd rather buy them piece meal. Plus I won't have to fork out $100 all at once.

I picked it up yesterday. It's just an excellent movie, and I cannot wait for #3. I don't understand the fascination with the "extended version" of movies. How many times do you actually watch the deleted scenes? Usually just one time. Is that really worth waiting a few months for and paying more money? Not for me.

I think you are getting the extended versions mixed up with other movies. The LOTR extended versions have the extended scenes in the movie. They are complete with special effects and score. They are not just deleted scenes in a menu. The extended version is 3 1/2 hours as opposed to 3 hours of the theaterical version. It adds so much more IMO. For example we see Gladerial (sp) giving the hobbits gifts (Sam the rope, Frodo the light of glandial or something like that) and the gifts get used in the other movies.
