    Per reed multi tweet:

Hurney flew to miami and is there now trying to convince johnson to sign. Denver and ATL are also interested. JOhnson said Panthers made a very good offer but nothing decided yet.

DE Charles Johnson “(The Panthers) threw an offer out but I have to see what happens. We can’t do much until Friday.”

I'd hate to lose Johnson but if we must, at least drive the price way the hell up.

Running back DeAngelo Williams will be finalized today--Carolina, Giants Broncos all in the mix--Panthers have a slight lead

If Johnson contract is any indication I'd rather lose Williams than pay too much for him. Since panthers won't really be competitive any sooner than a couple of years Stew, Goody, and Sutton would be okay

Don't be surprised if the Panthers show interest in WR Malcom Floyd based on Rob Chudzinski connection.

I love DeAngelo, but if he returns then I'd prefer to trade Stewart or Goodson for something.

I wouldn't be opposed to that.

Source tells CSN Bay Area that 49ers will release QB David Carr on Thurs at 1 pm. Carr was scheduled to take up $2.375 million in cap room.
