I made it out to training camp today and had a few observations that I thought some of you may find interesting.

    1) DeShaun Foster is the real deal. Ran w/ 1st and 2nd team
today. Look for him to start opening day.
    2) QB's and WR's looked off. However, the corners impressed
me today especially, after all that i've heard. Dante Wesley
and Deke Cooper both made a few nice plays. This could be
    two nice pickups.
    3) Defense is way ahead of offense. Rucker told the guys if they
didn't have goose bumps before the goaline situation that
something was wrong. They played w/ an attitude.
    4) Brian Allen came to hit this morning. Others to note in this
department were Morgan, Cooper, and Minter which is no
    real suprise.
    5) Look for last years 6th Round Pick, Dee Brown to be released.
He only got about 4 touches this morning.
    6) Goings worked out at FB and H-Back.
    7) Once again, Peppers imbarrassed Terry regularly.
    8) They worked on some 4-4 w/ Witherspoon being the extra LB.
    9) The heat got to Steve Smith a little. He sat out the last little
bit of practice after throwing up a few times on the sideline.
    10) Moose said he would be back at the end of the week while
he was signing autographs after practice.
    11) Gilbert sat out today. Walls returned.

Also I have some pictures if any of you are interested. Send me a PM and I will email them to you or if a few of you interested I will post them tomorrow.

I'd say go ahead and post the pics.

    Great update. Thanks a ton.

Let's hope Peppers helps Terry improve.

Was Goings at Half Back, or H-Back?

I think I'll have to goto the Fan day.

He was at the H-Back. Foster and Smith took the bulk of carries and Montgomery had a few as well. Foster really made a few game breaking moves. His biggest run came off of a option type play. It was more of a fake handoff to the fullback w/ the pitch coming immediately. Not a Quincy Carter option.

I went to about 5 of the mini camps, and Foster was the star.

I'm glad that's still the case.

Great news on Foster! Maybe he'll be well worth the price.

I'm having trouble getting the pictures small enough. I have to run now, but I'll try again later tonight or tomorrow morning.

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
that makes sense on Goings. He's as tall a back as we have, has good size but can't really be used as a bruiser, but can still get a little blocking in, has a little skill with the ball, makes for a multi-use player, which we will need if we're going to keep special teamers like Bates and/or Hankton. Keeping him as a RB and H-back means not needing 4 TEs, because by convention you'd like to carry as many players if you're going to continually use 2 TEs, and the primary one isn't a blocker (in other words, since the H-back isn't an in-line blocker, and neither is Walls).

It could possibly come down to Foster, Smith, and Goings as the backs, 2 FBs, and 3 TEs, then add Bates.

It makes some sense on Brown as well, I guess. I'd like to see him used in the passing game but I don't think we're going to go that route. Seems like we won't be using pass-exclusive sets much anyway. I was hoping he could come in and be the change of pace but I odn't think we really are looking for that after all.

    I have questions about Peppers.

Are they running any double teams at him, and if so, how's he handling that?

Also, are they still jumping him around positions, or letting learn what he was drafted to to do?

there were no double teams from the line, but they always brought the fullback to help pick him up. however, he was working through them quite well. i have a great picture showing this, but i can't figure out how to make it smaller. also, LDE is the only position he worked out of all day. i'm going back in the morning so if there is anything in particular anyone wants me to check out, let me know.
