Does it really matter what college you go to? You get out what you put in. This is like comparing apples to oranges, why are schools like Duke so much better than UNCC, can you say private university with a tuition that is about ten times higher. Say it with me "Duke is a private University, it can set it's own admissions standards and has a tuition that is about ten times higher than the University of North Carolina at Charlotte." Besides which would you compare Duke's engineering/computer science programs with UNCC's? No because Duke wouldn't hold a candle. Only N.C. State is better in those fields. Trying to compare Duke to UNCC only affirms your insecurities about your own abilities. Just like a 5 year old:

"My Daddy can beat your Daddy."

You have good point about it being what you put into it. Sly is full of shit about UNCC being a shitty school, but he loves to look down his nose and actually believes most of it. However, I guess you aren't familiar with Duke's engineering program.

Aw EZ, i am sorry you took offense to it. i just wanted to get under their skin. Although when JC Smith and The Citadel outrank you in the most widely accepted college rankings, you've got some issues that need to be addressed

The US&WR criteria for top schools is heavily biased towards private schools with high alumni giving rates, small class sizes, and students graduating in four years. Ever met a guy who failed out of Harvard? That’s because they don’t exist.

The current administration should be working harder to get our US&WR ranking up, because sadly that is what so many prospective students look at today. But there are plenty of other respected sources that give UNCC the respect it deserves.

UNC Charlotte is ranked among Entrepreneur magazine's
    Top 100 Colleges and Universities

CHARLOTTE—The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is named one of the Top 100 U.S. Colleges and Universities for Entrepreneurs in the April 2003 issue of Entrepreneur magazine.

More than 700 entrepreneurship programs were researched for the study, the magazine's first. UNC Charlotte appears on the list of the top 50 regionally recognized academic programs in the country.

Over the last 30 years the idea of entrepreneurial education has exploded. Currently, TechKnowledge Point, which conducted the study, has data on more than 875 entrepreneurship programs at colleges and universities in the U.S. Entrepreneur magazine's article breaks down the various types of entrepreneurship programs and advises students how to choose one that meets their needs.

UNC Charlotte's approach to entrepreneurship goes well beyond that of most academic institutions. Its interdisciplinary nature woven throughout undergraduate programs in many of the university's seven colleges integrates the MBA program with technology commercialization and new business formation and mentoring.

According to Mark Wdowik, executive director of the technology transfer office at UNC Charlotte, this stimulates a dynamic culture that encourages innovation and business development.

"The entire Charlotte business community is behind the program through support of both its annual Five Ventures(tm) entrepreneurship conference and its technology commercialization committee comprising area business experts," Wdowik said.

Among the companies that have resulted from entrepreneurial faculty, staff and alumni at UNC Charlotte are Digital Optics, Waveguide Solutions, Inc., MindValve, Inc., and InsituTec.

Entrepreneur's evaluation of the best entrepreneurship programs at U.S. colleges and universities was conducted from September to December 2002 by TechKnowledge Point Corp. of Santa Barbara, Calif. Founded in 2001 by David Newton, TechKnowledge Point is the world's first entrepreneurship/business development research and referral exchange.
More than 30 criteria were used in the study, including course offerings, teaching and research faculty, business-community outreaches, research centers and institutes, degrees and certificates offered. In addition, almost 300 colleges and universities responded to surveys designed to allow program directors, faculty and alumni to rank their own entrepreneurship programs against the competition. These results appear, along with the top 100 list, in Entrepreneur's April issue.
