Considering fox's comments about personell change, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if a starter was traded.

    For whatever.

I'm just certain Fox is as pissed as he's ever been, and considering he started Peete, cut that kicker, and benched Nesbit (notice these were ALL offensive changes), I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled the trigger on a trade.

    He's kinda manic, John Fox.

Manic, yeah, but I hope working for the Panthers doesn't do to him what the Aints did to Mora and Ditka...meltdown...

"started Peete" - good move, and I'm a Weinke fan

"cut that kicker" - then didn't fire the NEXT kicker when everybody said he should. Good move, too - Graham's gonna be awesome.

"benched Nesbit" - BAD move, still can't figure that one out.

But yeah, he does surprising things.

Point is, he's not crazy yet - I don't think. And as HeadCase says, he might bench Grant but probably won't trade him - Grant's upside still beats his blown coverages.

Grant played a very good game until that point. Tried to be a hero.

If he benches him, I don't think it would be for more than a game.

i think it would be good and appropriate for him to get benched for at least 2-3 games. we cannot afford for him to be making dumbass plays. he would not have been a hero if he had intercepted that ball. the game was already won. ya don't take that fucking chance when ya have the game in hand. it was the only fucking way we could lose (till the panthers invent another way). he can have all the athletic talent in the world but if he doesn't use his head he will continue to kill us, particurlarly in that position. and i don't think this is the first time this season he has royally fucked up ... just the first time at the end of the game. fox needs to send the message now IMO and hope it takes with Grant and the rest of the team. i donna know that a one game benching would be enough to do the trick. Fox needs to let everyone know that that he is serious about winning and having players on the field that make the right plays. and i think a really good way to do that is to take one of your very talented players and bench his ass if he continues to not get the job done. i think that if Fox plays a much less talented player ahead of a very talented player, the message will be crystal clear. you have to produce on gameday.

along those lines i wouldn't be surprised if smith is benched too and byrd takes his spot.

i don't think it so much a matter as we need different players (trade) or play calling as we need the players we have to make the plays they should make. like catching balls thrown in your hands, not losing defensive containment when you're up 13 points with 4 minutes left in the game, and hitting 20 yard FGs. we can win with what we have. we could easily be 6-0. we just need to make the plays that are there. the season is not yet lost but it soon will be if we continue to fuck up our opportunities.

When Carter was flushed out of the pocket wouldn't Grant need to come back to try and make a tackle?

That being the case IMO Grant came back for run support and got caught for doing it. ie. He was out of position.

Also isn't Tuten our back-up T.... why did he skip over James that easily?

Tuten must be a monster in practice.

that's the way i saw it. but it was a huge mistake. he had to keep containment deep till he knew the QB was past the line of scrimmage. even, if Carter runs for 10-15 yards, which is doubtful cuz there were others closing, it is no big deal. the only way we lose is to give up a huge fucking play. even if they complete the pass for 40 yards, it wouldn't have been too big of a deal ... they just don't have enough time to drive for 2 TDs with only one timeout.
