After a dismal season, the Philadelphia Flyers are apparently the first to make a big offseason splash. According to reports from The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Sports Network of Canada, the Flyers have acquired defenseman Kimmo Timonen and forward Scott Hartnell, both unresitrcted free agents, from the Nashville Predators for the second first-round pick (No. 23 overall) Philly gained in the Peter Forsberg trade. The reports indicated that Timonen has agreed to a six-year, $37.8 million contract (an annual $6.3 million cap hit), while Hartnell is set to sign a six-year, $25.2 million deal (an annual $4.2 million cap hit). Last season, the Flyers finished dead last in the league with a 22-48-12 record.

I like the Flyers, always been my favorite team and I'm still amazed that they went down the toilet as fast and badly as they did. I hope the guys running this thing have a clue..
