Who are the top assistants, coordinators of major universities that are all respected and ready to take over a division 1 football program?

Give it a rest, Paul. Bunting has a very strong coaching pedigree. Seriously, no one is going to make Carolina into a contender again. It was a total fluke under Brown.

Not really, Dooley had the Heels that good too before he got run off.

I'm not giving up on Bunting yet though.

I actually agree 100%...not because The Collin said so...because it's true.

UNC is a great school. But no fan support. A small stadium. A talent base that's being raided by Spurrier, Tommy Bowden, Beamer and Phil Fulmer. Not to mention NC State, Wake, and ECU splitting up the remainder.

There is plenty of fan support - they just need something that's worth a crap to support. Anyone who thinks that Kenan can't get loud has never been to a big game there.

The stadium isn't THAT small. Isn't it like 60,000? That's the size of WVU's stadium.

The stadium wasn't even close to full for the season opener. Even tickets to Miami two years ago were easy to get, although I will say that the stadium was alive that night because of it being alumni weekend. Those fuckers know how to bring it. Generally, though, the atmosphere sucks, and I've been to a lot of Carolina games (never been to a basketball game, oddly enough).

No, he really didn't. Dooley got them as high as 10th in his final season, but half his years they weren't even ranked. Crum arguably had the Heels as high as Brown, though. On the basis of a strong season in '80, Carolina was ranked as high as 3rd early during the '81 season until a blowout loss to South Carolina. Brown is the only coach to ever have UNC finish the season in the top 10, and '97 is certainly the closest they ever came to winning a national championship.

    Sidenote:
I wasn't aware that UNC actually offered even more money to Brown than Texas did.
