Here is a list (corny as it may be)...
    1) The Thing - JCarp version - Killer movie. Gory but just a great cast and cool remake.
    2) Night of the Living Dead - Great zombie flick
    3) Exorcist - probably on everyones list.
    4) The Beyond - saw this one recently and it moved into Top 5 for now. Kinda gory and low budget in parts but this movie was extremely scary. Very cool ending too. Great horror film.
    5) The Evil Dead - Cool low budget film. Has a little bit of everything - gore, spooks, posession, murder. Cool.

    Just off the list:
Changeling - Ghost fans will love it. And it is a great story and spine tingling too.

Others I haven't seen but have been told are great:
    Phenomena
    Suspiria
    Tenebra
Henry: Portait of a serial killer

Yea, I had the same experience with The Exorcist. I truely believed the devil was going to inhabit my body. Why my parents allowed a child my age to watch that mindfuck of a movie is beyond me. :D

Can't wait for the new classic
House of 1,000 Corpses by Rob Zombie

I read that MGM has picked up the movie and it is slated for a Pre-Halloween release.... Sweet!!!

    I'll have to say:
    • Halloween - the original and II. Just the music alone is enough to make my teeth chatter
    • Aliens - a thrill all the way through, especially the fight scene with the queen alien at the end
    • It - One of the scariest made for tv movies I've ever seen. I slept with the light on after watching part I.
    • Nightmare on Elm Street - Cheesy but scary.
