Weinke isn't getting any younger. If we limit his sack number every season, I think he could probably play 8 more seasons for us.

During the next two, he is going to learn the Fox/Hennings system. He's going to develop.

By then, hopefully we'll have a Harrington-type 22 year old back up, and Weinke will be the veteran that takes us to the playoffs for another 6 seasons.

Craig's Career is not over, when he is 35 and no longer in any football league, get back with me and tell me he failed, until that time, its just one guys opinion against another.... ;)

i wouldnt say that at all. more like the opinion most everyone in the nfl and the panthers players and former coaching staff against the opinion of you, d-craig, his agent and his mom.

honestly, dameyune craig? i know die-hard auburn fans who know he's nothing more than a decent college quarterback.

Guess if he never gets on another NFL team then you may have a point...

    Mr. Irrelevant at QB

I'm hoping our offense is such that the starting QB doesn't matter. We won't ask him to win games for us, just play solid enough to preserve leads. Toss a touchdown pass or two, and no interceptions.

The impetus is on Huntley to keep picking up 10 yards in 2, sometimes 3 downs.

The impetus is on our defense to prevent points, as well as actually make turnovers points. The bears won how many games last season because, in the last minutes of the game, the defense came up with an interception-for-a-touchdown?

I'm sure Craig will end up somewhere, even if it means playing in Canada for a couple of seasons. That can only help him. If he's as good as some people say, he will become the MVP of the Canadian league, and return to the U.S. a wise veteran.

This is not a double post but a different twist on the same quote - Careful what you say here, our new hero and franchise QB was overlooked by how many teams? Rumor has it, he may have still been around in the 7th or 8th rounds and based on him lasting that long, we may not have even gotten to this discussion...

May? That's a pretty strong one. You do have to be on an NFL team to be in the league, you know.

    >>Like or not, he was never given a full NFL game in the regular or pre season. Any observations or projections made by anyone as to his "potential" to succeed is mere speculation.

I don't care either way. The fact is he didn't earn a full game. Lytle got lucky, and while he started off poor, he showed that he could have easily been the #2 guy. And if we're going to talk about a "shot"...Lytle didn't get decent preseason PT with us until this year. He didn't even get that much this year. And yet Craig got a quarter here, a quarter and a half here, PT every game of preseason pretty much since 99 when he split time every other game. Had we seen more of Lytle I feel like Craig would not have defaulted into the #2 spot.

And Craig still can't beat Lewis...despite the fact that Dameyune would cost less he doesn't have a job. This isn't about one opinion or another. This is about the league not drafting him, the league not taking him, the league saying he's not all that good a player. The fanatical fans of Carolina and their misguided press are pretty much the only ones who have raves on this one. And gee, they've never been wrong.

A rumor, started by you Sandy.

First of all, there is not an 8th round. Weinke fell only one round from his projected 3rd.

Craig, on the other hand, was undrafted, for a reason. He doesn't have an NFL arm.

I really hate it when you lie. First, there's no 8th round. Second, most everyone had Weinke rated 2nd to 4th rounds. Most everyone hailed Weinke nationally as a smart value pick. Certainly, he could have fallen three more rounds, and it's possible you could get called up to be in the porn industry. The chances of either are, excuse the expression, quite small indeed. This "rumor" of yours...save face now and tell us what we know - you made this up and didn't even have time to get plausible information correct.

Not sure what all that was about, but the fact remains any opinion based on Craig is not based off anyone watching him play more than a spot here or there.

Some players play a spot here or there and the experts think, gee they are going to be great, then they get the start or play a full game and bust - we never here from them again...

Personally, I hold little regard for the Observer Sports writers and their opinions on football or players, sometimes agree with them but most of the time I don't - they are weak and I am not quit sure why a market as big as Charlotte still employs guys that should be writing for the Burgaw Gazette...
