And at some point, you got to have a team, and not a frantic homgoblin of aging vets and green players put together in frantic seach to produce a 9-7 team.

Your right in that Weinke needs to improve, can't have another year like that and still expect another year. Need to see some improvement in accuracy and judgement.

But we've got to get better along with him, or he won't. It's not coincidence that Aikman got better along with the Boys, that Denver got better along with Elway. It wasn't just matter of the light switching on with them, that was part of it, getting used to the Pro speed, but the teams themselves got better. The boys in particular, got a line, a running game. Then Aikman started putting up HOF numbers. It took a few years of steady improvement for each.

Sandman, I know it might not mean a whole lot, but check out career stats on Aikman and compare it to Weinke's first year. It made me feel better. I thought since both played on 1-15 teams the their rookie year, I looked it up.

As for Walls, I'm ok with 50% of the redzone plays going to Walls. I think I've seen him drop only one. The rest can go to Byrd.

Yea, very similar numbers, and they are not all that different. Good strong arms, not Elway like, but strong enough to make the deep outs. Big college programs. Aikman had his accuracy problems, as well as judgement, and both became strengths.

Well at this point, I will go into the season "OK" I have my doubts about "W", they have been noted. I hope I am wrong...

As far as Walls goes... yep he was my favorite Panther until last year. I'm sorry but I from the school of thought that thinks you have no right to go public like he did and cry like a baby... he was demotivating, he should have shut his mouth and spoke with actions not words... and any team that has to rely on their TE as much as Walls thinks we do, well, lets just say that team has a good chance of having some pretty poor red zone stats (Check team history here).

Notice I am not bashing the capabilities of Walls, just his pissy attitude - we need leaders not cry babies..

    >>Thats like saying my boy Craig is capable...

How? Who here honestly thinks Craig is capable? And yet Weinke is the top of the class of 2001.

    >>niether guys have proven they know how to win NFL football games,

Craig had four years and barely made second string over Lytle. He was so valuable to his team that they didn't make the bare minimum effort to keep him.

We won't have another Collins situation, where a guy with the absolute ability and the golden boy crown will ride the coattails of the scrubs and make a few throws so he can get the big head and start insulting mexicans.

And certainly, we do need competition. We just don't need another goober to come in here at great expense to sit the bench and be the people's choice when Weinke has a growing pain. If you want instant gratification at the QB spot, go hire Elvis Grbac to mow your lawn.

Like or not, he was never given a full NFL game in the regular or pre season. Any observations or projections made by anyone as to his "potential" to succeed is mere speculation.

But the fact remains, unlike some NFL players, he never failed when given the opportunity to play from start to finish - the opportunity was never there.

FACT, he never earned that right, but thats about all that can be said... he is still relatively young, hopefully he will go back to NFLE a few years and come back for 4-5 years in the NFL.

Larry D, the only problem with your statment is unilike some NFL players that play entire games, you can watch them and say they suck but all you can base your opinion on is that he never earned the right to start or by watching some sporatic play here and there....

The thing I watched about Craig was he usually got better or made a few plays the warmer he got. When he was thrown in out of position at RB he made some critical first down plays (2) which were all effort on his part. I just think the guy has potential with the right team...

Edit, he is just one of those athletes that gets better the more he plays in a game... some will make a few turnovers and get worse, some get better, its unfortunate for him...
