OK, I'm bored, its been about a week now...

Resigning Walls, the only way I will be wrong here is if Wesley becomes a team player and we do not have to design a playbook that sends 50% of all red zone plays his way.

Thinking all he needs to worry about at the QB slot is a veteran backup - wrong, we need a veteran challenger!

Other than that, I'm still glad we got the guy, and I am eager to see how FOX leads this team....

I'll end up regretting this but...

why do we need a veteran challenger? Like him or not, Weinke's where we're going. He's capable.

There is nothing wrong with challenges. It strives you to do your best. We dont however need to have weinke lookin over his shoulder. I think he is an excellent QB. Needs several things to be in place around him for him to be productive. A running game for starters. It is hard to be productive if all you do is throw beacause you cant run the ball. The linebackers in this leauge will eat your lunch if all they have to do is tee off on the qb. When we get a running back who can run the ball it would also be nice if he knew how to catch and run....ala marshal faulk.

Apparently Fox sees enough not to warrant spending big money on two players for the QB position. It's a good thing, we don't have the cap space.

For sentimental reasons if nothing else, having Wesley retire a Panther has to be good for the fan base. And quite frankly, despite the looks the backups got, I don't see a great deal of talent behind him.

Craig gone. Walls stays. Weinke looks to be the starter. Moose likely staying, from reports. You need to clear up your GM crystal ball, Sandy. ;)

Yep. That's part of it...we've got a pick and some decent cash put into Weinke, if we need to replace him we need to be damn sure we need to, not just some whimsy thought that he's going to be this year's excuse. After all, we could buy Elvis Grbac.

let's let weinke actually play a season with all his receivers AND a decent running game before giving up on him, ok?

sand, this team could also use a veteran to come in and challenge for the starting wide receiver, running back, both cornerbacks, defensive end, defensive tackle, outside linebacker -- heck, everything but kicker, punter and tight end really.

this team is all about getting younger. they're going to let this philosophy ride out for a while.

i did think that walls was gone, too, but what if he goes out and catches 70 balls next season? it's not out of the question at all. if he can stay healthy, fox seems inclined to riding him.

I'm not so much concerened about competition as I am a competent backup.

If Weinke sits for a few weeks, is Lytle the guy?

Why do we need someone to challenge Weinke this year?

Look at last year! If Weinke had not been drafted we would have had Jeff Lewis as our QB. Until we have a Warner, Manning, McNabb type QB on our team we need a challenge at the QB position every year.
