    Vader & Hal9000 aren't villians.

With the way all my female friends are swooning over Orlando Bloom & Viggo Mortenson, I'm surpised that Aragorn & Legolas aren't on there.

They must have stuck to asking people who would remain objective. :monkes:

How is Vader not a villian? Sure he turned good at the end but for all of 5 minutes in the last movie he was a bad guy. He tried to destroy the rebellion and kill his son. Plus he killed Obi-Wan. If that's not a villian then I don't know what is.

I think the Terminator should have been higher. He should be in the top 10. The man from Bambi? Give me a break. That's pretty weak. I'd have Vader as my #1 villian. Hero I'm not sure about.

HAL did kill the crew of the Odyssey, but I think he did it based on logic rather than emotion. I still don't think it was a villain, but it sure makes for a good debate.

At the risk of being labeled a psuedo-intellectual Star Wars fanboy (too late - sigh), I don't think Vader was a villian as Lucas penned him. The first Star Wars trilogy is the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Without belaboring the point, I think it's more accurate to label him the protagonist , and Luke, Obi Wan, etc as the antagonists.

It's a fine line - but the story isnt about all the billions of critters & folks Vader killed before the movie starts, but about his path back. The only true villians in those movies (that Lucas bothered fleshing out at all) are Grand Moff Tarkin & the Emperor. Jabba comes pretty close, but he doesnt have the domination/destruction agenda usually associated with the term villian.

BTW - did I mention that I'm starting to hate the entire Star Wars saga? Lucas could have made adult movies out of them but instead sold out with kiddie themes with Teddy Bears, sappy dialogue, and a retarded talking platapus dude.

ALso, FWIW, I agree with Math about Hal. And I love lowbrow bullcrap like these conversations.

Still a Hero, any man that is "Just breaking Rocks Boss" is the MAN!

Shit I feel like that everyday at work.

Cool Hand Luke, Office Space and Joe vs. The Volcano remind me way too much of work.
